Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    Idea Me!

We’re always re-purposing things for other lives. When we moved in to our new place, a little IKEA side table became our bathroom storage unit. This was after its previous lives as a night stand and then a TV table. :-) Not sure if that’s the MOST creative thing we’ve done, but it’s symptomatic.

I have had more cooking ideas lately. I cook a turkey or chicken in the crock pot and we have yummy chicken/turkey to eat all week. Casseroles, sandwiches and quesadillas… Makes cooking life easy for this working Mama :)

    IDEA ME

My most creative ideas always come when I’m drifting off to sleep late at night. Recently I decided I wanted to modify our TV cabinet to turn it into a china cabinet. Still trying to convince the husband about that one.

IDEA ME! I’m pretty resourceful when it comes to DIY. One of my favorites was turning a very outdated entertainment center into a cute little toy/craft station for my daughter!

    IDEA ME.

I really wanted a cubby organizer from Pottery Barn for my advent calendar – it has 25 cubbies – perfect, but I could not justify the cost for a seasonal decoration. Then I thought to hang it above our desk in our family room and I can put little glasses in it with office supplies: rubber bands, paper clips, etc. So functional and then it can hang all year. But at Christmas, I can use it as my advent calender. Totally justified the cost.

So it isn’t my most creative, but it was yours! My husband just finished making your postcard shelves for in my office! I’m in invitation designer and a friend/mentor had used them to display her work and I just thought it was a GREAT idea! They are hanging above my computer desk. And he built a shorter one lower so it is just beside my computer screen to put things I’m currently working on closer!

IDEA ME!!!!!! I think my most creative idea had to be my pantry. When I first moved in it had two shelves that could not be versatile and changeable so my boyfriend and I ripped it out, painted the inside a color, and bought shelving tracks so the shelves could easily be moved to fit our needs. Its so great to be able to move the shelves around whenever I want!

When we moved a couple months ago, the shelves for our bookcase did not materialize on the other side… we’ve since turned it (a big open rectangle with 1 built-in shelf) into an extended workspace using a door + 2 legs. It’s even more functional then it was before!

IDEA ME! That that it is all that ingenious, or something new and exciting, but I once but up a larger print and put it into smaller frames for a more ‘artsy’ look to the print. I actually really like how it turned out, although the print isn’t really my style anymore.

IDEA ME! I found this idea on a blog, but I fill old mason jars with the dry ingredients for our bread machine. About 6-8 at a time. Then I just have to dump in wet ingreds + a jar of dry, push a button, and presto, fresh-baked bread!

    IDEA ME!

Possibly my most creative/clever moment: after scrambling for wrapping paper on my way out the door to a birthday part for the jillionth time, it dawned on my that I could just use the same wrapping for EVERYTHING EVER. I now use kraft paper and navy grosgrain ribbon on every present I wrap. It works for girls and guys, birthdays and baby showers, and has kind of become my “signature” wrapping ;) It’s adorable and much cheaper!

Not terribly original, but I covered the roman shade in my kids’ bedroom to match the curtains I hung over their closet. The Fabler Bard pattern. Their room is by far the happiest in the house. :)
