Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

IDEA ME! Maybe it would help me find a wall mount ironing board holder. I don’t need one to hold the iron with it as I have cabinets in my laundry room, and I don’t want one that goes over the door, because then I can’t close the laundry room door all the way. What did you guys use in your laundry room? And if it’s a wall mounted hanger, where did you find it? Thanks!:0)

My creative ideas arrive in the gift wrapping department. Favorites include using old maps and for wrapping paper, fancy (but cheap!) napkin holders re-purposed as decorations, and tags made from old calenders.

I have several DIY things that I have done on a whim, but my favorite is probably the shoe-bag-rack-turned-superhero-storage that I made for my step son a few years ago. I just recently saw the same thing doe with Barbies on the internet. Wish I would have taken pics to put mine on the web too!

IDEA ME! I love finding ways to reuse old items for an unconventional purpose. We had these ladder shelves that I had been meaning to take down and store in the attic before our baby girl could try to climb them. We also had a pile of shoes spilling across our closet floor from our too small shoe rack. I’d seen a tall shoe rack at the container store that I loved, but wasn’t willing to shell out the money for it. Then it came to me – use the ladder shelves as shoe storage! I measured to make sure it wasn’t too tall to fit under our handing rod and then moved the ladder shelves into the closet and organized all our shoes to surprise the huz. Problem solved since our girl never hangs out in our closet and we can see all our shoes without having to dig through a pile!

I think I was perhaps most creative while living in my first apartment and had to make the place look chic without paint and major demolition! I used lots of fabric from sheets to add color to the walls and DIY-ed sconces out of cylinder table lamps from Target.

I’m not usually a creative person but when we decided we no longer needed our bedroom furniture, I turned our dresser into a buffet for our dining room. I kept the 3 top drawers as is, then removed the middle and bottom drawers and built shelves to hold serving dishes, wine racks for wine and custom made wine glass holders to hang our wine glasses in the middle open spot.

Sometimes I feel like Blair Warner from Facts of Life with all my “brilliant ideas” but lately I’ve been in a dry spell. I do have to say that I am a logistical queen. Guess that’s why I’m an event planner. Have to many people at an event? I’m the one to come to to figure out how to feed them all/ fit them in the venue.

I’m pretty bad at being creative, which is why I must rely on “stealing” the ideas of others to make my own & use in my house… which is why Low’s creative ideas is awesome to me :) Original ideas seem hard for me to come by. Lately though, I guess my “idea” has been to redecorate our house on a dime by building some new furniture as well as finding great pieces at garage sales/thrift stores/craigslist & refinishing them to be preeetty! :)

    “IDEA ME”

Our family loves camping. I also love decorating and art. My son’s room has cathedral ceilings and the blank space in the ceiling peak was killing me…I *needed* art in there but nothing looked right so high up. So I painted a camping mural! A tent, by a lake, with mountains…it’s not the prettiest but it was done with tons of love for my boy and makes me happy everytime I go into his room.

We recently overhauled our kitchen cabinets; removing the junky 1/2 shelf they build in there, and replacing them with various awesome items: slots for cooling racks and cookie sheets, a pull-out shelf with all our dry baking ingredients, etc. We also created more organization in our cooking utinsil drawer by creating customized slotted storage.

One of my favorite memories is from when my boyfriend and I moved into our first house together and didn’t have a Christmas wreath. We ended up taking juniper bush clippings, wiring them in a circle with some of his heavy duty mechanic wire, and attaching pine cones randomly around it. The best part was the bow he made on his own, better than I ever could!

    Idea me please!

My most creative idea is the bag system for breakfast making when we are camping out on the boat in the San Juan Islands, WA. When it comes time for breakfast, I pull a gallon sized ziploc bag out of the icebox and it contains four bags inside of it. 1)pre-cracked eggs 2)grated cheese 3)pre-browned ground sausage or cubed ham 4) salt, pepper and other seasonings. All I have to do is shake the bag with the eggs in it so they are scrambled, then dump everything in a pan and stir till done. I leave the cheese for last.

I just built a ladder golf game (for labor day BBQ). I need to make the balls and color them. So, I took the Shelley method of spraypainting old golf balls (rather than buying special balls). I drilled a hole … and my creative moment to get them evenly sprayed was stringing them to a hanger & bending the hanger so it wouldn’t touch the other balls. It was such a last minute, creative idea.
