Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

IDEA ME! My beau is the creative/skillful one when it comes to design solutions and fixes. He’s created so many good ideas, like how to lay out our kitchen in order to make it feel larger, or how to tackle the task of adding wooden posts in place of our Filigree ones.

My most creative ideas are taping off my back patio and painting it with concrete paint to make it look like tiles. 6 years later it looks weathered but I still love it. Can’t say I came up with the idea but I see it all over pinterest now. Also, love my new hall closet makeover. Any organizing project I do, I love! I check your blog every morning! LOVE!

    IDEA ME!

I air dry my clothes, and in our apartment complex I am unable to hang clothes outside, anywhere. I use a slatted bedframe propped against the wall. It’s great, only about an inch deep and twin sized bed wide, it can hold an entire load of the kiddos clothes. We don’t even have the bed it goes with anymore.

I got so frustrated that the 3 of us (my dh, my daughter, & I) were constantly looking for cell phone cords (all 3 of our phones use the same type cord). I ordered some extras online and now we each have one on our nightstand, plus in our purse or bag that we use when we’re out and about. For not much money, I resolved our frustration.

My household trick is my slow cooker. We’re a busy family and having a hearty, healthy, home-cooked meal with little effort at the end of the day is a lifesaver. I always thought crock pots were only good for anything covered in cream of chicken soup, but I’ve done a whole chicken, pulled pork, pot roast, chili, oatmeal…

The best idea I ever had was to buy two panels of deeply discounted ($2) silk curtains at JCPenny. They were a not so pretty off white color but I thought for $2 I could at least try to dye them a cheery yellow for my kitchen. And lo and behold if they didn’t just turn out fabulous! They are one of my favorite parts of my kitchen and they are the perfect shade too.

When I lived at my parent’s house I had two closets in my bedroom, one long one with ugly standard sliding doors and a closet with a regular door. We took down the sliding doors and added bookshelves to the long closet and added a desk for doing homework. It was a creative extension to a really small room…kinda like Clara’s new reading nook!

    “IDEA ME”
When we moved into a house where I realized I would have to use my beautiful dining table as an everyday table, I bought some nice table pads, a bunch of table cloths and switched out the chair pads covers (white jacquard) with something dark and sturdy. The reupholstering was so easy. I could switch them back when it becomes my formal table again.

One of the cleverest things I had seen when I saw it was a sofa table my grandma made using staircase balusters as the legs of the table. I’ve since done it myself, and have seen it in DIY magazines.

The most creative idea that I think I’ll be proud of once it’s done is transforming a simple IKEA bed frame into a luxurious looking one on the cheap. I’m planning to stain it a darker color and building a headboard over the existing one. :)

IDEA ME! My creativeness tends to lean towards ideas that help my kids in school. My kindergartener has to learn lists of “sight words”…to make them more interesting, I found popcorn clip art and wrote each word on one of the popcorn pieces. I cut them out and then placed them in a real popcorn bag (the kind you get at a fair or carnival). My son picks a piece of popcorn from the bag and reads the sight word. He has not tired of this nightly homework yet!

I use an old bulletin board (push pin type)to hang all my jewelry. Also, I don’t have room for a dresser, so I got one of those plastic vertical shoe storage/organizer things that you hang in the closet and I put all my socks and undies in the cubbies.
