Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Well…I’m new to the whole DIY thing. However, I made a fab Fall wreath for $6.50 and I saw something similar at Michael’s for $35

“IDEA ME” My most recent creative moment was when I purchased a metal mirror with mother of pearl discs surrounding the mirror knowing all the while that the color of the discs would never work. Though shimmery and beautiful, they were too neutral for area where I planned to hang it. I went to our local dollar store and bought several different colors of $1 per bottle nail polishes (can’t you just picture the one labeled, “Green With Envy?” I painted over the mother of pearl and loved the results!

I don’t have any ingenious creations, but I’ve had my heart set on some things a few times (lamp shades, pillow cases, wreaths, shirts). When I couldn’t find what I want, I just found a way to make it myself!

I’m actually taking a page from you guys and refinishing a few frames to use for decor/gifts for my mother in law’s retirement. Before, I would have been intimidated to really change things that I bought at the thrift store, but now I’m jazzed to try it!

    IDEA ME!

With Halloween coming up and our annual Halloween party along with it, one of my most favorite creative decorating ideas is to use dryer sheets to make a haunting army of ghosts that float overhead – not only is it an affordable and cute decoration, it keeps the house smelling fresh throughout the party and the next morning while cleaning!

I was very proud of myself for finally reorganizing my closet. It was a very deep closet but it just had one short bar across the back…..so I installed 2 long ones going the opposite direction and I now have a TON of space to hang clothes! Whoever set up the closet that way in the first place was not SMART. haha!

I feel like throughout our home renovation process I’ve had some pretty creative ideas, but I’m drawing a blank on them right now…the most creative thing I did recently was no-sew hem a curtain for our nursery closet a la YHL (followed your tutorial, Sherry, thanks!) and actually sit down at a sewing machine (with a tutorial from my friend Katie, who’s been sewing since she was 10) and make a couple of throw pillows for the glider in the nursery.

My most creative idea is making a piece of art featuring my and my boyfriends’ monograms with a creative twist… putting them in Morse Code! I’ve always loved the minimal look of those dots and dashes. Maybe I should do one in Braille, too.

My husband and I just finished building an ottoman for our living room – something we’ve wanted for a long time, but didn’t want to spend $600 on! We love it, especially because we designed it (and it cost less than $200 for the supplies)! I love making things for our house that we need :)
