Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME!

My best idea was moving the front door to our house from entering into the middle of the living room to entering into a corner of the kitchen. We have so much more living space now.

Okay, this isn’t the most creative thing, but your dog scrap thing made me think of it. Before I take out my compost, I think about what from it I can give my dog instead. He loves fruits and veggies (probably because we don’t give him meat scraps), so it keeps him very happy!

“IDEA ME” My greatest creation, would have to be my snowman ornament. The ornament is just the snowman head. The name material is recycled. The total cost to make my snowman ornament is under $1.50. I have sold many of these ornaments, the sell for $12.95 each. :-)

IDEA ME! Just the other week, I was feeling pretty creative when I was without a belt for my dress pants while at work and decided to use a makeshift one with the strap from my purse. It actually looked really good- probably better than my real belt! haha

The best idea I’ve had was for my bathroom art. I didn’t know what kind of art to put up so I had a thought one day when I took my chihuahua out to potty. I ended up taking a pic of her going pee pee and another going poopy, framed and matted them and VOILA! They are defintely conversation pieces.

My most creative idea lately has been how to reuse what we have instead of jumping to buy more stuff! We needed a nightstand for my husband’s side of the bed (since I only had one since I was single when I bought the set) and I decided to reuse this old cabinet my grandpa made for my doll clothes when I was a girl. It works perfectly!

My most creative idea has been making a pintucked duvet cover. I am someone with very basic sewing skills (as in, haven’t used a sewing machine since 8th grade home ec… I’m 24 now), so the fact that I managed to do this without too many “incidents” is amazing!

IDEA ME! Random thought as I walked by two rooms – to swap them! Best idea ever and made for more coziness and functionality than before. Why do we put the furniture in one place and leave it for 5 years? I loved mixing it up and feeling like I got a whole new house for just rearranging! Oh, and the joy of organizing drawers that have not been looked at in 5 years! I feel more sane – but also like I might do it again to another part of the house. =)

Yay, this is so exciting! I have so many projects I want to tackle and this would be so helpful! Hmm, most creative idea I had? Recently I needed a desk so I took my two matching nightstands and stained them to match a giant piece of plywood I had. But now I see your beautiful desk you built so I am thinking I need an upgrade…

Idea me! My favorite creative project was making knock-off sapien bookshelves when I was in grad school. They turned out so nicely and cheaply that I ended up making them several times to fit into different apartments. It really did spur on the “I love it, but it’s too expensive, so let’s see what I can make” attitude I still currently have and love.

my most creative idea recently was to start a personal blog (for myself to read only) where i’d write letters to my husband anytime there was something he did that i appreciated or something about his character that i appreciate or just another reason i love him. it’ll help in the future to review these things and remember what it’s all about when the going gets tough!

My most creative solution was at my sister’s babyshower, the day before we were informed that our ordered favors would not be delivered in time. I panicked and jumped into action, I dipped pretzels in chocolate and put sprinkles on them, in a clear bag and pink ribbon! Favors done!!

My most brilliant idea thus far has been bringing my video game loving boyfriend on thrift hunts for vintage Pyrex. He’s spotted a few high dollar games for $5 that we were about to sell for $60 on E-bay.

I always had trouble organizing our pantry, especially those small packets of gravy mix, seasonings, Kood-Aid, etc. I finally found a solution, so they weren’t getting lost on the shelves (and falling between the wire racks) – a wall organizer! It has tons of small clear pouches that are perfect for those little packets. I can always tell what I have in the pantry now. : )

Creative Idea: While at a Restoration Hardware Store, I fell in love with their Industrial Lights, but didn’t love their prices! While at Lowe’s in the lighting section I found they now carry vintage light bulbs (1/2 price of RW) & I bought a light kit & made my own. I searched Pinterest for ideas & found a lot of metal baskets made into hanging lights. Since we are on a small lake, I bought a metal fish cage & wired the light & bulb inside! Fun northwoods decor, minus the big buck price – love it!

My cousin has three boys, all with birthdays in close proximity. Eventually you run out of gift ideas and a household can only hold so many toys/books, and clothes are boring for little boys. I made my first superhero cape for her 5 year old and it didn’t come off the entire birthday party. Simply LOVED it!
