Fab Freebie: Love Is Blinds

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:

NextDayBlinds Image 1

This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).

NextDayBlinds Image 2

Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Next Day Blinds.

    BLIND ME!

True story: I once rented a hotel room outside of NOLA w/ a friend. Not only was the room incredibly dirty, it also included a window featuring a view INTO THE ROOM NEXT DOOR. We immediately left and got our money back- looking back, we should’ve known when they asked us if we wanted the room “all night.”

It would be great to find a better solution for our master bedroom window that looks straight out onto the street. We have blinds up, but unless they are closed perfectly and tightly, people can see right in at night.

    Blind me, youngsters!

Honestly, we’re blessed with beautiful views outside of all our windows, but the bare window in our master bath out to the woods makes my husband nervous.

Worst views used to be our old apartment in C-Ville overlooking…other apartments.

When we bought our house the blinds that came with it were so cheap and old that one night while I was checking the mail I realized you can see absolutely everything in our house.

I just wanted to say that I looked around their site (I’ve not heard of them before) and they have FREE swatches. That’s so awesome and makes it so easy to DIY. If I won this awesome giveaway I’d be well on my way to ordering, but even if I don’t I’m thrilled with their swatches service and I’ll definitely consider them when I’m looking for window coverings.

Oh this is very much needed! We live on a busy street and it’s not so much the view out that’s bad, but I’d rather not such a clear view IN if you know what I mean :) Also, with a new baby arriving in March, we hear we should be in the market for some black-out type window coverings!

I live in a very large city, and I am tired of seeing the urban wasteland of a parking lot from my windows. City views are just not that breath taking unless you have some multi million dollar penthouse. I suppose the parking lot view I have is better than the back-of-a-gas-station view I used to have though…

So the large window in our bedroom has a bamboo-like roman shade over it. You can’t see out. But one evening last year my husband was waiting outside for me to change to go for a walk and we found out…that while you can’t see out, you sure can see in!! YIKES! Know wonder our neighbors are so friendly. We have hung curtains over that window but I’d LOVE some swanky plantation like shutters for it!!

My husband and I would love to be able to cover our bedroom windows with something other than the thin plastic blinds that have been up at our windows for two years now. Our neighbors leave their ultra bright porch light on all night, so…we have fallen into the habit of hanging our throw blankets over the windows at night… pretty sad huh?

We’ve been in our house for 2 years and about 1/10 of our windows are covered. I’d particularly love to cover the guest bedroom windows that look out onto our dogs’ favorite patch of yellowed grass – not the ‘welcoming’ sight we want our guests to enjoy!

My office has great big sliding glass doors, which is great except that I work from home half the week and the sun beats in for most of each day, it was turning into an oven! We really need something to cover it up, and curtains aren’t the best option for the space.

I live in Seattle and wish I had a Mt Rainier or water view, but….instead I live in a ground level condo. It’s fun for people watching, but feels like a fish bowl at times. I’d LOVE to win this as one of my 2 living room blinds has been broken for 2 years; I can’t pull it up fully which is a tragedy when we’re already lacking for sunshine in our lovely city. We have extra large windows that require custom orders, which just haven’t been in the budget! My fingers and toes are crossed this time!
