Fab Freebie: Love Is Blinds

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:

NextDayBlinds Image 1

This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).

NextDayBlinds Image 2

Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Next Day Blinds.

    BLIND ME!

My master bedroom faces the street, and I currently have a cheapie temporary paper shade covering it after the cheapie mini-blinds broke. I need something worthy of my bedroom!

    BLIND ME!!

So, two things for this answer. Firstly, the window I’d like to blind is the bathroom. Right now we just have an ugly temp blind there (which hasn’t been so temp really) because our bathroom can be viewed directly from our neighbor’s bedroom!

Second thing is something I wish I could unsee. Our neighbor next door one summer night chose to mow his lawn on a tractor, with a flashlight strapped to the top, at 3 AM, in a THONG. Yeah…haven’t talked to that neighbor since…I *hope* he was drunk…

    Blind me!

We need new blinds so badly in our family room I’m so tired of the tiny metal ones. But as for seeing strange things in windows…our office is across the street from a hotel and apparently the people in the hotel don’t realize we can see in their windows. So we’ve seen some pretty
(or not so pretty) interesting naked people doing some pretty strange things that should only be done with the blinds drawn.

Our privacy fence isn’t quite so private, since it is starting to fall apart. Therefore, the vertical blinds on both of our sliding glass doors are essential. The previous owners put in blinds of varying heights (strange), so we’d like to replace them with some more attractive ones!

The worst view I ever had was when I lived on Bennett Avenue in NYC and my kitchen “window” was non-existant. Thankfully, I had a creative friend who painted a lovely trompe-l’œil window for me – complete with blinds.

At my old apartment, I was across the street from lofts with huge floor to ceiling windows across one wall. Every time a new person moved into the building, it took them at least a month to get curtains. I think I saw every one of them, all five floors of condos in a naked or semi-naked state at some point. Some more than once. Oh city living.

I have a tiny bay window that is in need of some covering! It’s right by the entrance of the home, and the fact that it’s like a large peephole into the house isn’t what I was really going for. The only way to really solve it is to get custom shades to fit the tiny things!
