Fab Freebie: Love Is Blinds

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:

NextDayBlinds Image 1

This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).

NextDayBlinds Image 2

Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Next Day Blinds.

Getting new windows for our first place so new blinds would be super sweet! There are 3 large windows at the front of the house that let in tons of light, which I love, but sometimes we need a little privacy.

I think the worst view was in my husband’s basement apartment (when I had just met him) and the window looked right into a a window well in the ground. Very little light could make its way in, and, of course, you were always looking at dirt, leaves, bugs and the occasional trapped animal.

We have close neighbors on 3 sides, so blinds are essential. Sometimes when I forget to close the blinds in a room, I just make a mad dash and hope no one’s looking. :)

BLIND ME!!! Well my parents live behind us and we have a glass exterior door leading from our office to the back yard. Although we love my parents and love having them close (at times) I would like a little privacy while I’m roaming the internet or trying to get work done.

not so much an indoor view, but the hubs and i have taken to planting 12 green giant arborvitae trees to create a living fence separating us from our neighbors who have nothing better to do than peek out their blinds at us while we’re in the backyard!

We do our best to block views of our next door neighbor’s back yard. He seems like a sweet guy, but we seriously worry that he might be a hoarder. His backyard is filled to the brim with JUNK.

We love our sunroom, but it’s at the front of our apartment, on the lower level (we live in a fourplex). People have to walk by our windows to get into the building. Right now we have the ugly cheap blinds that block out the lovely light while keeping it private, or raised, everyone can see in. Duofold shades would rock!

Sadly, I think WE are the naked neighbors! We just bought a house that had been completely gutted and redone by the previous owners – so we inherited lots of gorgeous windows and absolutely zero window coverings. We’ve ordered custom shades for about half the windows (all we could afford for now!) but are still waiting for them to arrive. We try so hard to be discreet and duck while changing clothes, but I’m sure our neighbors have seen much more of me than I’d like. Sigh.

You know, it’s not so much a view that I’d cover, but some light. We have shades up in my 4-year old son’s room, but the boy still wakes up with the sunshine. I keep meaning to find darker shades, but just haven’t done it. This would be a perfect opportunity to get something really nice for him.

My husband and I are submitting an offer today for our first home! The master bedroom (with a gorgeous tray-ceiling!) has a wall of 3 side-by-side windows with no window-covering at all! It is also a ranch-house, and the master bedroom in the back corner looks over our shallow (but wide) back yard and into the neighbor’s back yard! Window coverings are essential to keep the romance alive if Hubbs doesn’t want me in a giant fleece onesie for modesty in front of that window every night!

Fortunately, we got privacy glass on the bathroom window, so that one’s covered. But I’d love to have drapes that could cover the living room window (it’s 9 feet wide!). The cellular shades we have are ok, but they don’t block a lot of light. The drapes I picked up don’t cover the whole window unless I use two sets, and then they look goofy bunched up on either side of the window. Maybe I just need to get over it…

We’ve redone our master bathroom (new floors, sinks, countertops, hardware, toilet, everything) but haven’t yet replaced the old nasty blind we took down when painting all the trim work. I still haven’t showered in our newly renovated bathroom because of the lack of privacy and use our guest bathroom down the hall full time (that is still stuck in the 80’s but has a blind!).
