Fab Freebie: Love Is Blinds

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:

NextDayBlinds Image 1

This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).

NextDayBlinds Image 2

Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Next Day Blinds.

Our master bedroom windows are on the front of the house. So I have a “lovely” view of 4 neighbors houses. Plus if we don’t have the windows covered they all get a “lovely” view of our bed.

My husband and I live on a really busy street and our guest room faces the street so it would be great to cover up those windows. Right now we have some makeshift curtains in there but they look terrible. I’d love to make that room more inviting with new window treatments.

We’re lucky enough to have great views in our home, but I would like some pretty shades or blinds for our living room, which faces the street.

I live in a 1960’s ranch house with those wonderful chest-high windows that architects thought looked so great at the time. Now, they’re just an eyesore and I’d love to get some roman shades made for the one in my living room!

    BLIND ME!

We had to be out of our last house by a certain date and being in the ER the night before set our moving progress back quite a bit. I had bought bamboo roman shades for 3 rooms soon before we moved that I ended up having to leave behind because we ran out of time and couldn’t unscrew them. I regret having to do that because the cost of them can really add up and we’ve never been a “price is no object” kinda family. We now live in a home that needs them in 7 windows in the main living area alone, so winning this would be SUCH a blessing!

Both of the bedrooms in my tiny house have just one window each. They face into my fenced back yard, but it slopes up hill to neighboring homes… With a high enough vantage point to see into my windows anyway!! I’ve been planning to replace the existing (dusty, dingy…) vinyl mini blinds. This would be perfect!!

    BLIND ME!

My last house, a rental, had hideous views into the backyards of our neighbors: to the left, an unfinished porch, weathered tarps flapping off the roof, a dog sculpture (?) buried in leaves so it was only visible from OUR yard, various hunks of downed trees, etc.; to the right, a two-story structure, probably once a garage, that looked like a mini-apartment house. That was unused, and crumbling.

So glad we got out of there!

We have neighbors from all sides of our house. Window coverings are essential. Especially, in our master bath which has a window directly facing our neighbors yard!

    BLIND ME!

A previous owner of our 1960s ranch decided to expand the galley-style kitchen by taking out the upper cabinets over the island and making what can only be described as a window box on the end. It’s got three floor to ceiling windows, and is just big enough for a house plant (or two of our cats). The light makes the kitchen look much bigger, but it also means every single car driving down the side road has a view right into our kitchen, especially at night.

Our house is situated in at prime ‘kid loop’ position with one side facing an quiet alley perfect for the neighborhood kids to drive bikes around. While I’m glad we live in a neighborhood where kids can run free, I wish it wasn’t right outside our dining/living room side windows. I’d love some up/down shades to allow light in while shielding us from view of the kids’ peepers (’cause they have no shame at asking what we’re having for dinner!).

The one window in our bathroom is in the shower, and starts at chest height. So the first thing we did when we moved in was buy and install one of those stick-on window diffuser decals!

But the rest of our (many) windows are covered by adequate if uninspiring overstock stock honeycomb blinds that I would love to replace!

    Please, please Blind ME!

We’ve lived in this house 10.5 years and though we’ve changed paint and some flooring and made much of it our own, we still have stupid, bent, unmatching blinds everywhere. My difficulty would be choosing which room needed it most! Probably the living room combo (really two rooms) which has two huge picture windows and two huge single-hungs, and all need to match (and currently are light blue in one room and brown in the other 0_o ).

The weirdest view I wish we could cover doesn’t actually overlook anything. It’s high up and an awkward size–so the sun comes in early, and the moonlight can keep me up at night. Right now, there’ s a pillow stuffed in it.

In our last home (a rental house – we recently moved into our “first” home that we own!), the view from our kitchen window was our neighbor’s house and detached garage. A few times, while washing dishes, a guest of our neighbor’s came out of the garage and proceeded to relieve himself! I’m so happy to be out of there!

Our worst view is the one from our French doors in the den, which reveals a pool in need of resurfacing and a fence in need of repair/replacement. Thankfully, even in its sad condition, the fence does prevent anyone else from viewing the disaster that is the pool!
