Fab Freebie: Light Up A Room (& Board)

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

We were so pumped when Room & Board wrote to us about doing a giveaway. Their furniture and accessories are practically the epitome of the clean-lined, comfortable-yet-sophisticated, natural-material-ed (?) aesthetic that we love. And while there’s plenty to ogle over on their site, one of their Galbraith & Paul pendant lights is officially up for grabs. There are a wide variety of graphic pattern-happy designs, so follow this link to hunt down your favorite (and we completely understand if you get sidetracked by all of the pillows while you’re there).

Room Board Pendants

Here are the deets:

  • PRIZE: One Galbraith & Paul pendant (priced up to $449) from Room & Board
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M BOARD” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … if you could pick any room in your house to magically be more illuminated and full of light, what space would that be? Your basement? A closet? A tiny half bathroom?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 48 contiguous United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

This giveaway’s random winner is… Liz Zankowski (who’s loved these pendants so long that she was excited just at the chance to win). Well, now you’ve won – congrats!

And everyone else can take advantage of Room & Board’s Designer Lighting Event. You can score 15% off Modernica, Flos and Pablo lighting now through Oct 19th.

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Room & Board.

    I’m bored!

Our kid’s playroom needs some lighting help. Good think our kid isn’t born yet (coming soon in November), so the room and board pendent would be coming at the perfect time.

I’d love to have our stairwell flooded with light – it is the only area of the house without windows!

Our bedroom could definitely use more lighting. The light/fan wiring is wonky so the light pulses like a mini strobe light when its on. We ended up just putting a plug in lamp in the room and only using the fan feature, but the lighting has really suffered.

Hmm, I would probably choose the dining room…it’s in an awkward transition area between our kitchen and living room, and it’s either too-bright (non-dimming) track lighting, or no light at all!

    I’m BOARD

Our basement needs to be seriously lighting up! It’s a tiny ranch house, very old and it only has a partial basement that wasn’t planned very well. It has one tiny window that isn’t even big enough to use as an escape in case of fire. I’ve always disliked basements and find them dark, cold and creepy. My husband is going to cut out the concrete and install a bigger window, but I think some good lighting would definitely help the space feel a little less like a dungeon.

I’m board with cooking in the dark. The transformer blew in the low voltage track lighting in our kitchen over a year ago. We tried to get it replaced under warranty with the manufacturer and they drug their heels leading us along that we would get it replaced. In the meantime we’ve been cooking with floor lamps from the living room. And we live in Alaska, where its dark way more than usual. I would love to have a new fixture to put up and just check this project off of my list.

Even though my dining room has two windows, it is the darkest room in the house. I’ve been trying to think of ways to give it some “younghouselove” style, and this giveaway might be the perfect place to start!

I’m Board – so fun, I’d never seen Room & Board before now! I would definitely brighten up our dining room. Our home is set up on a hillside nearly completely surrounded by tall cedars, so it is a constant losing battle to let the natural light in and we’ll take help anywhere we can! Thanks so much!

I’M BOARD! All of the fabrics are so great, that it’d be hard to choose if I won, but I think at this moment my favorite is the Bubble Pendant, which I’d use in my Living Room. The one spot in the house that absolutely needs better lighting, though, would be my closet. I can’t ever see anything in there.
