Fab Freebie: Let The Rain Fall Down

***This giveawy is no longer accepting entries***

By now you all probably know that we try to make the best out of a seemingly bad situation. So when someone tries to rain on your parade, what do we say? Catch it in a rain barrel and put that H2O to good use!

Which is why we’re super excited to bring you this week’s giveaway sponsored by The Rain Barrel Company. They sell a range of pro-sustainability products (composters, etc.) and this week they’re offering up one of their namesake products to one lucky reader…

RainBarrelCoCascastaTerraCotta

Yup it’s a fancy pre-made professional rain barrel which means you all can jump on the collect-your-own-rainwater bandwagon with us without even having to go barrel diving like I did. After all, who isn’t down with saving the planet and money on their water bill? Oh and you can learn more about these amazing pre-made rain barrels on the Rain Barrel Company website since the winner gets their pick of the bunch:

RainBarrelCompanyGiveawayOptions

  • PRIZE:  One of the three rain barrels (and stand) show above (either the Californian, Mocha Cascata or Terra Cotta Cascata, valued at $183 – $337 a pop!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “RAIN ON ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite way to make the most of a rainy day. Do you catch a movie? Curl up with a book (or blog)? Or just sit and dream about filling up a rain barrel?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA and Canada
  • THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

PS: Anyone catch the subtle Hilary Duff / Laguna Beach theme song reference in the title? Yeah, um, me neither..

Psst, have you updated your bookmarks / reader / blogroll / outgoing links / Twitter/ Facebook yet? If you’re still heading our way using old TYH methods, they won’t last for long so don’t forget to make the switch! We’d hate to lose a single one of you freebie-lovin’ folks.

    Rain on me!

A rainy day for me means finding a way to keep the peeps (ages 7,7, & 4) from driving each other and me up the wall and out into the rain. So that means, board games, Legos, and books. If I were alone…reading, coffee, & knitting (not necessarily in that order!).

    RAIN ON ME!

On rainy days I spend time inside with my Australian Shepherd, throwing balls and rough housing. We both prefer watching the rain drop down, rather than get wet ourselves . . . but we both do enjoy how green the rains make the garden!

    RAIN ON ME

I have been coveting one of these…I have an apartment with a garden balcony…which this would be perfect for.

Lately, if we ever get any rainy days here in TX I have been doing in-house projects: clean out closets, go through books, rearrange pictures, furniture, paint a wall.

So that when the rain is over I have something to show for it!

    RAIN ON ME!!!

My favorite rainy day happened ten years ago when I was a high school student in Virginia Beach. We had a few days of intense rains and the flooding of streets caused a school closure. While at home that day, I rummaged through the VHS tapes and found Casablanca. I’d never seen it before and what a treat! I’ll never forget the heavy rain and that first viewing.

Now that I live in Los Angeles, and rain rarely comes, it is so important to store the water! I’ve been using buckets and jugs, but am excited about the opportunity to stay indoors, watch a good old movie, and let a barrel take care of the collection.

The container garden and I will thank you….

    Rain on me!

As much as I love the gifts of spring, summer and autumn, my favorite season is winter because of all the rain we get here. I just love to curl up with a soft blanket, a hot cup of tea, a luscious book and a steady fire in the fireplace. I can’t think of anything better than to snuggle in and read to my heart’s content accompanied by raindrops pattering on the roof, enveloped in warmth and coziness and feeling the hug of a well-loved home, loving me back.

I love your blog and your talents for envisioning the finished “best” out of the seemingly worst beginnings.

    Blessings,

    Michelle

Rain on me! We bought our barrels and were going to make rain barrels ourselves, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. All of the rain coming off our roof has been waisted! On a rainy day, I love sitting out on the front porch, listending to the rain splitter splatter and catching up with magazine subscriptions. Fun.

I’ve always wanted a rain barrel- I have lots of landscaping. My water bill goes up quite a bit in the summer. Hubby said he would make me one- yet he’s a little busy with the deck, building his hot rod, the gutters, refinishing the upstairs hardwood floors, ………
