Fab Freebie: Let The Rain Fall Down

***This giveawy is no longer accepting entries***

By now you all probably know that we try to make the best out of a seemingly bad situation. So when someone tries to rain on your parade, what do we say? Catch it in a rain barrel and put that H2O to good use!

Which is why we’re super excited to bring you this week’s giveaway sponsored by The Rain Barrel Company. They sell a range of pro-sustainability products (composters, etc.) and this week they’re offering up one of their namesake products to one lucky reader…

RainBarrelCoCascastaTerraCotta

Yup it’s a fancy pre-made professional rain barrel which means you all can jump on the collect-your-own-rainwater bandwagon with us without even having to go barrel diving like I did. After all, who isn’t down with saving the planet and money on their water bill? Oh and you can learn more about these amazing pre-made rain barrels on the Rain Barrel Company website since the winner gets their pick of the bunch:

RainBarrelCompanyGiveawayOptions

  • PRIZE:  One of the three rain barrels (and stand) show above (either the Californian, Mocha Cascata or Terra Cotta Cascata, valued at $183 – $337 a pop!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “RAIN ON ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite way to make the most of a rainy day. Do you catch a movie? Curl up with a book (or blog)? Or just sit and dream about filling up a rain barrel?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA and Canada
  • THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

PS: Anyone catch the subtle Hilary Duff / Laguna Beach theme song reference in the title? Yeah, um, me neither..

Psst, have you updated your bookmarks / reader / blogroll / outgoing links / Twitter/ Facebook yet? If you’re still heading our way using old TYH methods, they won’t last for long so don’t forget to make the switch! We’d hate to lose a single one of you freebie-lovin’ folks.

    RAIN ON ME!

Rainy days are the best time to do inside renovations! We are currently renovating a second house to sell and these are the best days to get some painting done!

    RAIN ON ME!

Growing up, my parents had a metal roof on the dining room addition of their farmhouse. My favorite thing to do on a rainy day was lie on the carpet and listen to the rain drops rapping on the roof. Now I’m a little more practical – I tend to do just enough housework to “make good use” of a rainy day. But when I get caught in the rain doing errands, I’ve been known to sit in the parking lot or driveway just to enjoy the nostalgic sound from my car.

RAIN ON ME!!! On a rainy day I love to cozy-up inside… make a fire in the fireplace, light a candle & cuddle up in a blanket with my hubby while watching a good movie. Also… putting on my sneakers and going for a run while feeling the refreshing rain hit my face and splashing in the puddles!

    Rain on me!

Very rainy (read: lightening and thunder) are best spent curled up with the kids and dogs either reading a book, or doing puzzles.

Simple storms (read: just rain) are meant for playing in! We like to run around, catch the rain on our tongues (we havent had enough snow lately in MD).

We use all rainwater collected in empty flower pots to water the real flowers (and the dogs!)

    Rain on me!
Here at our house we open the windows if there is no horizontal rain action going on and let the rain cleanse the air in the house, I read that it neutralizes it plus it smells soo nice after a while. And we organize our drawers or closets or fold laundry, any of the tasks that I put off doing. WE need a rain barrel please I have too many flowers up front that need attention from the water hose and we have watering restrictions.

    RAIN ON ME!

I live in the Pacific Northwest, so it pretty much rains here like 70% of the year. Typically it just gets treated like a regular day unless its a thunderstorm, in which case I’m usually found doing something stupid, like standing in the middle of a field so I can watch it. Haven’t been struck by lightning yet! (knock on wood)

    RAIN ON ME!

For me, rain usually means my students don’t get to go outside for recess, and I don’t get a break! (That’s how it is out in CA, where we don’t have a lot of indoor gyms or big school buildings…mostly classrooms that lead outdoors.) So when I’m home when it rains, I really enjoy it!
