Fab Freebie: Let The Rain Fall Down

***This giveawy is no longer accepting entries***

By now you all probably know that we try to make the best out of a seemingly bad situation. So when someone tries to rain on your parade, what do we say? Catch it in a rain barrel and put that H2O to good use!

Which is why we’re super excited to bring you this week’s giveaway sponsored by The Rain Barrel Company. They sell a range of pro-sustainability products (composters, etc.) and this week they’re offering up one of their namesake products to one lucky reader…

RainBarrelCoCascastaTerraCotta

Yup it’s a fancy pre-made professional rain barrel which means you all can jump on the collect-your-own-rainwater bandwagon with us without even having to go barrel diving like I did. After all, who isn’t down with saving the planet and money on their water bill? Oh and you can learn more about these amazing pre-made rain barrels on the Rain Barrel Company website since the winner gets their pick of the bunch:

RainBarrelCompanyGiveawayOptions

  • PRIZE:  One of the three rain barrels (and stand) show above (either the Californian, Mocha Cascata or Terra Cotta Cascata, valued at $183 – $337 a pop!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “RAIN ON ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite way to make the most of a rainy day. Do you catch a movie? Curl up with a book (or blog)? Or just sit and dream about filling up a rain barrel?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA and Canada
  • THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

PS: Anyone catch the subtle Hilary Duff / Laguna Beach theme song reference in the title? Yeah, um, me neither..

Psst, have you updated your bookmarks / reader / blogroll / outgoing links / Twitter/ Facebook yet? If you’re still heading our way using old TYH methods, they won’t last for long so don’t forget to make the switch! We’d hate to lose a single one of you freebie-lovin’ folks.

    RAIN ON ME!

I love baking on a rainy day…as long as I have all the ingredients and I don’t have to go out to the store! Otherwise reading in bed and napping are good activities. :)

When it’s raining I feel energentic, and if it’s not too miserable I like to take a walk in it.

RAIN ON ME!!! My favorite way to spend a rainy day is curling up on my sofa and looking out the big picture window of the california bungalow close to the Rose Bowl. I have a wonderful view of the cottages on the hillside.

I didn’t take your rainy day question so literally (in light of your recent situation). When I’m having a rainy day I usually resort to chocolate or any other sweet I can conjure. It’s sad but true.

Rain on me! I was impressed by these when I went to their web site. Lots of possibilities – more than I realized. Rainy days in Alabama are more enjoyable than Oregon – you know the rain will end soon! Naps, reading, rearranging furniture – whatever is calling most to me. Thanks for this opportunity.

    RAIN ON ME!

For us, it’s about what we DON’T do on a rainy day. As in, we don’t have to lug the watering can back and forth to the herb garden three times to get everything good and soaked. That’s worth an embarrassing raindance, right there.

    RAIN ON ME!!

We are closing on our first house tomorrow and can’t wait to start decorating. A rain barrel would be an awesome thing to have at the new place!

My favorite way to spend a rainy day is curled up with a good book, fireplace on if it is cold outside, snuggled up with my 70lb lap dog Halle.

Coming down off our wedding and all of the disorganization and wedding clutter that ensues, I am so thankful for rainy days that urge you inside! We take advantage of them by cleaning, planning, and getting a leg up on little home improvement projects! Oh, and dreaming of our own little future brick ranch! Thanks for all the inspiration!

My what I wouldn’t do to get one of these rain barrels! ;-)
Living in the desert of Los Angeles, we are on a severe water restriction, and although it doesn’t rain often, it does rain.

Since it doesn’t rain often we don’t have much occassion to enjoy a rainy day, but if the chance does occur we usually cuddle up on the couch to watch a movie and eat some tomato soup & grilled cheese! Yum!

    Rain on me!

First- I want to thank you for your site- I love it. I just bought a house and am having so much fun looking for ideas on your site.

Second- what I like to do on a rainy day….well, I am from Seattle so there are a lot of rainy days….my rainy day agenda is usually do whatever you originally planned. One cannot let rain get in the way! And umbrellas, what are those?!?

But, if MUST stay in, then my favorite thing to do is watch mindless reality TV shows. Usually one’s that take place in sunny california so that I can imagine myself on the beach. If that doesn’t strike my fancy, then I usually just play inside with my puppy. She is super fun.

I walk everywhere (to work, to the store, movies, bar..everywhere!) Since I’m out hoofing it so much I inevitably get caught in the rain from time to time. I don’t mind, its sort of fun and I think of how fun it was to play in the rain as a kid.
