Fab Freebie: Island Style

We’re leaving the mainland and heading for the islands for this week’s freebie giveaway. Well, I guess I don’t mean that literally (unfortunately) but we’re leaving it up to So’mace Lifestyle, a new design boutique in Honolulu, to bring the Hawaiian experience to all of us.

somacelifestyleshop

So’mace Lifestyle is a new gallery & shop spawned from a design service that started in 2004 by former New Yorkers Kaypee Soh and Edward Macey. The new boutique, which has a focus on sustainable and green design, is chock full of great art for your walls (wallpaper), for your floor (rugs), for your dreams (bedding) and- here’s where the prize comes in – for your sofa (pillows).

somacepillowsoncouch

Kaypee Soh’s line of original pillows (view full collection here and here) is a mix of nature-inspired florals and graphic retro designs, all hand-printed in Washington state and hand-sewn in Hawaii. They feature 100% linen covers with a 20″ x 20″ feather/down and hypoallergenic insert. Plus, with two different, coordinated designs on each side, you can give your couch a fresh look just by flipping the pillow over. And one lucky reader will have the chance to do just that…

somacepillowstacked1

To win your choice of any one of the six pillows shown below, just comment on this post with the words “ALOHA” by Wednesday, February 18th at 8pm EST. And since Hawaii is such a popular honeymoon spot, we’d also love to hear where you went (or are hoping/planning to go) on your honeymoon. As you probably know, we actually left the lower 48 and headed the other direction for an Alaskan honeymoon. Not quite as warm, but it managed to be just as romantic.

pillowchoices

So’mace Lifestyle will ship this great prize anywhere, so don’t hold back all you international pillow lovers! We’ll be picking one winner using random.org and announcing it later in the week as usual. Now, what’s Hawaiian for “good luck”?

If you’re curious, you can get more details about our giveaways here. All images courtesy of So’mace Lifestyle and Kaypee Soh

The first half of our honeymoon was spent at Fenway Park. Got a personalized autographed baseball from Carl Yazstremski. The other half we spent touring Vermont. Just a laid back kind of week meandering about.

    ALOHA!

We went to a small privately owned island called Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadines. It sounds expensive, but it was very reasonable, especially for the level of service they provide. The most expensive part was getting there, had to fly to Barbados, take a small prop plane to Union Island, then a boat over to Petit St. Vincent. Was an amazing week!

We ended up staying close to home, Door County WI in a gorgeous eco friendly bed and breakfast. For the 1 year anniversary (September) I am hoping for Seattle or San Fransico.

I just found this blog! You guys are too cute! (and your design ideas aren’t half bad either ;)

For our honeymoon we spent 3 weeks driving from Memphis to Los Angeles. Along the way we hit the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Mexico for a day, San Diego and spent a week in LA seeing the sites. It will be a long while before I have the luxury of 3 weeks vacation in a row.

We went to Riveria Maya, Mexico for our honeymoon and stayed at El Dorado Royale- by far the best and most romantic week of my life {which is after all what a honeymoon is all about}. We can’t wait to hopefully go back someday!

Aloha! My husband and I got married near San Luis Obispo, CA. The wedding planning was a bit stressful so we opted for a simple honeymoon. We went to Big Sur, Ca (only a few hours drive up the coast) and stayed at Deetjen’s in a cute quiet cabin. No TV, radio or internet. We hiked and ate and then ate some more. It was beautiful!

We went to Sedona, Arizona for our honeymoon — splurged to stay a week at a small, quiet, posh “villa” right up against the red rocks. It was fantastic. Planning an out of country trip for our 5-year anniversary to Australia and New Zealand!

My love and I couldn’t afford a getaway honeymoon, unfortunately … but we did spend a few nights in the ultra-luxe honeymoon suite at the local Fairmont hotel, where the nightly turn-down service made us feel like royalty. To this day, when one of us wants to make the other feel special, we’ll turn down the bed like the hotel staff did for us. It’s a nice memory. :)

We honeymooned in St John, USVI! Instead of staying in a resort, we rented our own private little house right on the beach- a pebble beach. We grilled out, swam in our private pool and toured the island in our rented jeep which I had to drive since the hubby’s insurance didn’t cover him. Good times!

Besides driving from Maine to Georgia after the wedding, my husband and I haven’t had our honeymoon yet… and we celebrated our one-year anniversary in September! We are actually taking a cruise in April and a trip to Chicago in May.. so we’re calling that our “extended honeymoon”!

Aloha! We were married 38 years ago in Seattle, but since our first job was in western Kansas, we spent most of our “honeymoon” driving to Kansas. We did get to spend one night at Mt. Rainier at a lodge where they locked the main door at 8 p.m. Not a problem when you’re on your honeymoon. And we got to spend one night at the fabulous Yellowstone Lodge, where they put us first in a room with twin beds and then in a room with one bed…but no bathroom, so we had to use the communal bathroom. And it snowed the night we were there (in June). Still…GREAT memories!

Aloha! My husband I got married this past July. We were lucky enough to leave Northern VA to head to Kauai which is one of the Hawaiian islands. The experience was utterly amazing. Michael planned the whole thing and kept everything a secret so all I knew was our destination. What a great time! He wants to go to Alaska next time we go on a big trip though!
