Fab Freebie: I’ll Drink To That

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Sherry and I can’t stop talking about how good the toasts were at my cousin Casey’s wedding in Dallas (Wedding Crashing pics to come…). There were five in total (two groomsmen, two bridesmaids and my other cousin, the bride’s teenage brother) and each was remarkably funny, articulate and touching. Most weddings are lucky enough to have one of those, let alone a handful. So in that spirit, we think this week’s prize from Mikasa Crystal & Dinnerware is quite fitting.

Mikasa Wine Glasses

Mikasa’s been dishing out classic and stylish servingware for over 60 years (perhaps they were even on your wedding registry?) so we were stoked when they contacted us to offer up some free goodies for you our lovey readers. This week we’re serving up prizes to three lucky winners from Mikasa’s new Cheers Too line of glassware. Each set of four crystal drinking glasses features simple, modern designs that just make you wanna throw a dinner party. With lots of “beverages” on hand, of course.

Mikasa Crystal Glassware

  • PRIZE: Your choice of the Cheers Too White Wine, Double Old Fashioned, or Highball Set of Four by Mikasa
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’ll DRINK TO THAT” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable toast you’ve heard (or given!) and what made it great. We could all use a few good toastmaster tips, right?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, August 26th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only this time.
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    I’ll drink to that!

The best toast I’ve heard was at a cousins wedding. The grooms father gave a toast and had everyone in the room bawling. He told a sweet little story about when the groom was a kid and he spent weeks picking out the perfect baseball glove – and the look on his face when he found the glove was the same look on his face when he introduced the bride to his father. He knew he had found “the one”. So sweet!

I’ll drink to that! Best toast I’ve ever heard was the best man at our wedding. He has known my husband since they were kids so it was just the right amount of humor and memories.

The best toast I ever heard was the one that my maid of honor did for me during my wedding in June. She was funny but not embarassing, and just sweet enough to bring a tear to my eye but not mess up my makeup. As a matter of fact, we registered for these exact glasses, so I’m hoping we can throw an even bigger party!

I’ve been to many a redneck wedding where some drunk idiot made a really ridiculous and totally inappropriate toast…that’s about all I get. So I guess I’ve heard lots of funny and embarrassing speeches, but nothing really *good*.

At a friends wedding, her father gave a very moving toast. When he got to the part about his proudest moment being the day she got a hole in one on the golf course… that is until today… everyone had watery eyes. It was so sweet.

    I’ll Drink to That!

This is an easy one for me…..I’m home to Michigan after visiting my two twenty-something daughters in Chicago last weekend. Over dinner at Mia Francesca’s (yum!), my 23 year old daughter Kristen wanted to offer up a toast. Of course, since I’m the Mom, my heart skipped a beat not knowing what was next. But Kristen wanted to toast the fact that she got the well-earned raise that she has been seeking for the last few months. Nice for her to know her efforts are appreciated!
Love the blog, and I often send the girls your postings as inspiration as they ‘decorate’ (and I use the term loosely!) the condo that they share in Lakeview!

    I’LL DRINK TO THAT!

My husband’s best man threatened to do a never-ending toast at our rehearsal dinner. His plan was that whenever people assumed he was done, he would lift his glass and, instead of drinking, he would tack on another wish to toast to until people became visibly agitated. Thankfully, my begging skills (along with a little guilt-tripping) saved the night.

I’ll drink to that fabulous set of unique pattern glasses!

Unfortunately, I am still receiving grief/embarrassment for my most memorable toast experience as it often comes up at family affairs….I was the recipient (the bride) when my brother-in-law, sweet as can be and seriously unplanned, tried to follow his written script of “Meg, with her beautiful DRESS…” instead uttered “Meg, with her beautiful BREASTS…” Fortunately, I was not a bridezilla and I laughed it off. :)

I’ll Drink To That: I love those glass, very pretty and classy!! I used to plan weddings for about 4+ years so I’ve heard a lot of toasts! None that stick out really, but I remember I almost cried at every wedding planned, I’m such an emotional sucker :)

My friend went to a wedding where the bride’s best friend made a book entitled “The BFF Journey” since she was passing the bride on to the groom. It included photoshopped pics of the groom’s head on the best friend’s body. It was a hit!

Some of the best toasts I’ve heard were when I was living in Ireland. From impromptu toasts at the local pub to grand affairs at the horse track, they were always quippy and to the point. But do you think I can remember a one of them? Nope. But I would suggest to having a few Irish guests at your party and then you’ll be sure to have a good toast!

Sadly, in my toast at my sister’s wedding I started with some funny anecdotes but then lost my train of thought, and it just sort of fizzled out. So my tip is: don’t be afraid to have some notes with you, just in case you need them!
