Fab Freebie: I’ll Drink To That

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Sherry and I can’t stop talking about how good the toasts were at my cousin Casey’s wedding in Dallas (Wedding Crashing pics to come…). There were five in total (two groomsmen, two bridesmaids and my other cousin, the bride’s teenage brother) and each was remarkably funny, articulate and touching. Most weddings are lucky enough to have one of those, let alone a handful. So in that spirit, we think this week’s prize from Mikasa Crystal & Dinnerware is quite fitting.

Mikasa Wine Glasses

Mikasa’s been dishing out classic and stylish servingware for over 60 years (perhaps they were even on your wedding registry?) so we were stoked when they contacted us to offer up some free goodies for you our lovey readers. This week we’re serving up prizes to three lucky winners from Mikasa’s new Cheers Too line of glassware. Each set of four crystal drinking glasses features simple, modern designs that just make you wanna throw a dinner party. With lots of “beverages” on hand, of course.

Mikasa Crystal Glassware

  • PRIZE: Your choice of the Cheers Too White Wine, Double Old Fashioned, or Highball Set of Four by Mikasa
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’ll DRINK TO THAT” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable toast you’ve heard (or given!) and what made it great. We could all use a few good toastmaster tips, right?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, August 26th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only this time.
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    I’ll Drink To That!

    The glasses are wonderful.

As for the toast, it would have to be my sister’s wedding. I cried while giving it and my sister was the perfect picture of serenity.

The best toast I’ve heard was at a close college friend’s wedding. Unfortunately for him, the best man told the story of the day the bride and groom first met- he crashed the jet-ski (in an attempt to impress his future wife) into the dock where we were all sitting. For some reason, she stuck around and ended up his wife. The best man had the entire wedding bent over laughing!

The best man at our wedding gave a great toast, featuring such topics as “your mom is hot” ” do you have any long lost sisters” and “i hope you have many babies”

I just sold all my Mikasa wedding crystal before moving across country, so I could really use those wine glasses! Unfortunately, no memorable toasts here. I’ll have to work on an awesome one of my own. :)

Can’t say that I’ve heard a fantastic toast, but I’m stressing out about giving my first wedding toast this December, as the Maid of Honor for my best friend. I don’t want to be known as “just another toast, would you sit down and be quiet already,” so I’m trying to come up with something touching and funny that people actually enjoy. Wish me luck!

The best toast I’ve heard was a couple of weeks ago. My dad was the best man at his high school foreign exchange student’s wedding. It has the prefect amount of funny anecdotes, cheesy-ness, and sweet wishes to the newlyweds.

Best toast was when the best man told a story about how him and the groom got arrested in college… and then learned that the groom had NEVER told his parents the story.

So my advice… make sure your toast doesn’t spill any secrets (but dont’ worry- everything turned out fine since the arrest was in the groom’s sophmore year of college and three weeks before his wedding he had graduated from med school… so his parents weren’t too disappointed).

I gave a toast at my grandparents 50th anniversary. It was a huge party of all of their friends and family and I didn’t plan to say anything until the last moment. I got up and said that they were the glue that holds our family together and told them how much I love them. My grandfather has since passed away, but my grammy is still acting like a glue on her own.

I’ll Drink to that…. the worst toast I’ve ever heard was at my friend’s wedding where the best man talked about every girlfriend the groom ever had and even gave little notes about certain girlfriends being super hot and others being crazy…not really appropriate at the guy’s wedding.

I’LL DRINK TO THAT! I recently went out to dinner with a group of friends before heading over to an Earth, Wind, & Fire concert. One of my friends had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and scheduled her surgery around the concert since the tickets were already purchased and she wanted to focus on the good things in life. At dinner we toasted her husband who had put in several phone calls that day to get us backstage passes so we could meet the band after the concert. The look on her face when she heard that big surprise was priceless!

The hubs and I didn’t actually expect toasts at our wedding, but his normally fairly reserved brother gave a sweet & funny toast that had us both in tears!
My best friend then stood up and embarassed the heck out of me; recounting stupid things we did as kids–testing out the flammability of hairspray & nailpolish, among other silly things.
    We love our family!!

The best toast i’ve heard was done by an accountant who tallied up the number of days since the couple had met, how long they dated, number of trips taken together, and so forth, all to conclude that this was day one of their life together.

As the maid of honor at my best friend’s wedding three years ago, I gave a toast after the best man. My friend’s dad had died about 7 months before the wedding, and his absence was felt by everyone there, so I opened my toast to the couple with a toast to him. I teared up giving it, and everyone listening teared up, too.

My husband has done multiple toasts where he has written songs for the bride and groom – mostly teasing the grooms. Very entertaining and incredibly memorable. He has had friends and family members comment on them even years later.

My husband and I like to give little toasts all the time–no matter how cheap the wine or champagne, just to commemorate special moments. Our most recent were on our better-late-than-never honeymoon in San Francisco and at a great family dinner at Brio, just celebrating each other and our lives.
