Fab Freebie: I’ll Drink To That

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Sherry and I can’t stop talking about how good the toasts were at my cousin Casey’s wedding in Dallas (Wedding Crashing pics to come…). There were five in total (two groomsmen, two bridesmaids and my other cousin, the bride’s teenage brother) and each was remarkably funny, articulate and touching. Most weddings are lucky enough to have one of those, let alone a handful. So in that spirit, we think this week’s prize from Mikasa Crystal & Dinnerware is quite fitting.

Mikasa Wine Glasses

Mikasa’s been dishing out classic and stylish servingware for over 60 years (perhaps they were even on your wedding registry?) so we were stoked when they contacted us to offer up some free goodies for you our lovey readers. This week we’re serving up prizes to three lucky winners from Mikasa’s new Cheers Too line of glassware. Each set of four crystal drinking glasses features simple, modern designs that just make you wanna throw a dinner party. With lots of “beverages” on hand, of course.

Mikasa Crystal Glassware

  • PRIZE: Your choice of the Cheers Too White Wine, Double Old Fashioned, or Highball Set of Four by Mikasa
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’ll DRINK TO THAT” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable toast you’ve heard (or given!) and what made it great. We could all use a few good toastmaster tips, right?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, August 26th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only this time.
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I’ll drink to that! I love Mikasa. I am in Plano, super close to Dallas. I love the pictures from the wedding.

My Husband fretted for days about his toast to his older brother at his wedding. I was very choked up at how smoothly it went and how he was able to mention their belated mother into it without breaking up too badly. I know she was watching and proud of her two boys.

The best man at our wedding had a great toast. I think what made it great in my mind is that I was expecting the worst! Figured he would have some embarrassing or crass jokes or stories to tell in front of my conservative family. But he didn’t! He was heartfelt and genuine and it was awesome.

I’ll drink to that! My MOH made sure there were no dry eyes in the house when she described how I acted – giddy, self-assured – when I met my husband. It was so touching to hear her memory of that time and her take on how we got started. She even talked about the personality traits that we both had that made us fit so well together. Best MOH toast I’ve ever heard.

Ill drink to that. Best story I heard was at my friends wedding and the maid of honor reminded the bride about the dreadful first date her and her soon to be husband went on when they were 16…..10 years later, it was great to be reminded of their first encounter when his tongue got stuck in her brace!!!

I’ve never given a toast at a wedding and I can’t actually recall any really good ones that I’ve heard. I can say that I’m nervous about what people will say at my wedding next year! Hopefully it won’t be too embarassing.

My husband has developed a minor specialty in Dr Seuss-style rhyming toasts/roasts for friends’ weddings. They’re hilarious and heartfelt – so much fun.

And then there was the time my sister, in her toast at our wedding, called me a feminazi……

At our wedding, the Maid of Honor (MOH) gave the “funny” toast and the Best Man gave the sentimental one: total flip. MOH is my best friend and roommate from college who is an aspiring actress. Early into our co-habitation I gave her a card that said “Will you be my best friend? I’ll give you a dollar…” and I put a dollar bill in the card. During the toast at the wedding, she pulled out two dollar bills to give to me and my husband “to be her best friend”. As we reached out to take them, she pulled one of them back and says, “I’m a starving artist, I was hoping I could get a two for one special!”. It was one of the funniest, heart-warming toasts I’ve ever heard (and definitely made me cry).

At my best friends wedding I read a veery old note she had sent me in high school about her dream crush and how she was going to marry him some day and the names they would name their children, and how cute he was, etc etc etc. It was hilarious but also touching at the same time since she did eventually catch his attention and get married to him.

At a friends wedding, the father of the groom gave a touching toast. Then ended with the statement that he was glad they were finally getting married as he would not have to pay the long distance phone bills anymore as he proceeded to hold up a 6 foot long phone bill from one month of the long distance love birds chatting.

When my little brother was the best man at my older brothers wedding he started out with the classic joke of, “after 21 years, I am glad to know that we have finally figured out who the best man is!” Zing! He gathered many laughs which was his hope

My husband and I got married three months ago and my little sister’s toast made me laugh and cry at the same time. (This made for some very awkward photos of my husband & me listening to the toasts)
She talked about how she would miss having me around the house singing and dancing and making her laugh but she finished her toast by sharing how my husband has become a big brother to her and she knows he will take good care of me. For a 17 year old, she was eloquent and mature and the toast was beautiful.

Most memorable…FOG toasting the bride amid tears, meanwhile the FOB (a marine) wasn’t nearly as emotional and looked on quite shocked. The toast wasn’t nearly as entertaining as watching the guests reactions.

my fathers toast at our wedding, he was on the verge of tears the whole time and had a big smile on his face. i had to hold it together, but was so awesome. then i took over and sorta ad-libbed and had everyone laughing. i was so nervous speaking up there, but when i can get people to laugh i’m at ease. it was fun and this makes me want to break out the video so i can hear the speeches all over again!

I’LL DRINK TO THAT! I recently gave a toast as the Maid of Honor at my childhood friend’s wedding. Everyone said that the toasts that night were some of the best they’d heard. I think my favorite part of the toast was talking about some of the silly things Katie and I did together when we were little. Getting the guests at the wedding to laugh made me a little more at ease up there.
