Fab Freebie: I’ll Drink To That

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Sherry and I can’t stop talking about how good the toasts were at my cousin Casey’s wedding in Dallas (Wedding Crashing pics to come…). There were five in total (two groomsmen, two bridesmaids and my other cousin, the bride’s teenage brother) and each was remarkably funny, articulate and touching. Most weddings are lucky enough to have one of those, let alone a handful. So in that spirit, we think this week’s prize from Mikasa Crystal & Dinnerware is quite fitting.

Mikasa Wine Glasses

Mikasa’s been dishing out classic and stylish servingware for over 60 years (perhaps they were even on your wedding registry?) so we were stoked when they contacted us to offer up some free goodies for you our lovey readers. This week we’re serving up prizes to three lucky winners from Mikasa’s new Cheers Too line of glassware. Each set of four crystal drinking glasses features simple, modern designs that just make you wanna throw a dinner party. With lots of “beverages” on hand, of course.

Mikasa Crystal Glassware

  • PRIZE: Your choice of the Cheers Too White Wine, Double Old Fashioned, or Highball Set of Four by Mikasa
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’ll DRINK TO THAT” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable toast you’ve heard (or given!) and what made it great. We could all use a few good toastmaster tips, right?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, August 26th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only this time.
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    “I’LL DRINK TO THAT!”

My sister and Maid of Honor at our wedding gave a toast tha brought the house down… Something about going together like “peas in a pod, bees and honey, O-H to an I-O!”

Yep – many Ohio State Buckeye fans in the audience, including ourselves, who laughed and cheered!

The most memorable toast I’ve heard was one at a wedding of a father to a son, and he said, “Son just remember—you can be right, or you can be happy.” It was hilarious!

The best toast came from my husband, “As you slide down the banister of life may all the splinters face the right way.” It’s a classic and we use it all the time.

    I’ll Drink to that!

My husband and I recently stood up for our two best-friend’s wedding. She is my bestie from x-ray school and he is my husband’s long time childhood friend and of course we introduced them. The speech was given by the groom’s sister and touched every single person in the 400 person hall. The speech was how we all were losing grips on the groom as he was going head first down a dark path but the introduction of my friend brought him back. Without going into much detail the groom’s sister was able to express the importance and the love his family felt for their new daughter/sister in law. It was so touching I let out a few tears…

One of my favorite toasts was at my cousins wedding. One of the grooms cousin gave a short speech of how much she wished them both the best and at the end of the speech she announced she had a gift for them which were a couple of belly dancers that put on a really awesome performance.

I’ll Drink To That…and…the best toast came from the couple’s old professor who (and Jesuit Priest). He told them the same thing that he had told their old class at the end of the semester several years ago: “I wish you all a lifetime of……Great Sex.” That’s right…this Jesuit Priest had taught a class on Theology of Sexuality!

The most memorable toast from our wedding was when my mom stood up and said “I give it nine months!” It was followed by a long silence and the sound of crickets chirping. Later she told me she didn’t know why she said that and felt very awkward afterwards. Oh well, we thought it was pretty funny!

man. I wish I had some awesome toasts to share, but the only ones I’ve heard aren’t very good. I mean they mean a lot to the bride and groom (inside jokes) but not so much to the rest of us. which is fine, I mean it’s their wedding and all ;O)

At our wedding, our friend and officiate suggested a toast in what he called an old polish tradition. It consisted of two matching glasses, one with a shot of water and one a shot of vodka. No one was to know what was in either glass. The symbolism is that this was our first secret as a married couple. We’ve been asked several times who got which… but we’ll never tell.

At our wedding someone toasted by saying that we were “blissfully speeding down the path to eternal happiness.” Although it is kind of corny, we love it. It’s become our logo!

My advice is to have just one drink before the speech. I’ve heard too many drunken speeches mostly from bridesmaids that go on and on and on… Sure it’s the couple’s day, but short and sweet is always appreciated by the guests.

One of the best toasts I’ve ever heard was at my brother- and sister-in-law’s wedding… My husband’s grandpa stood up and had my sister-in-law hold her hand out, palm up. Then had my brother-in-law place his hand on top of her, with their palms touching. He then proceeded to say, “Eric, this is the last time you will ever have the upper hand.” It was priceless!

“I’ll drink to that!” (the white wine glasses)

I told my sister at her wedding that I wouldn’t be on “her side” anymore, but that I was now on the side of her marriage. It sounds better when spoken rather than written. :)
