Fab Freebie: I’ll Drink To That

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Sherry and I can’t stop talking about how good the toasts were at my cousin Casey’s wedding in Dallas (Wedding Crashing pics to come…). There were five in total (two groomsmen, two bridesmaids and my other cousin, the bride’s teenage brother) and each was remarkably funny, articulate and touching. Most weddings are lucky enough to have one of those, let alone a handful. So in that spirit, we think this week’s prize from Mikasa Crystal & Dinnerware is quite fitting.

Mikasa Wine Glasses

Mikasa’s been dishing out classic and stylish servingware for over 60 years (perhaps they were even on your wedding registry?) so we were stoked when they contacted us to offer up some free goodies for you our lovey readers. This week we’re serving up prizes to three lucky winners from Mikasa’s new Cheers Too line of glassware. Each set of four crystal drinking glasses features simple, modern designs that just make you wanna throw a dinner party. With lots of “beverages” on hand, of course.

Mikasa Crystal Glassware

  • PRIZE: Your choice of the Cheers Too White Wine, Double Old Fashioned, or Highball Set of Four by Mikasa
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’ll DRINK TO THAT” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable toast you’ve heard (or given!) and what made it great. We could all use a few good toastmaster tips, right?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, August 26th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only this time.
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

A great toast from the bachelorette party in the movie The Wedding Date: “Here’s to the husbands who’ve won you, the losers who’ve lost you, and the lucky bastards who’ve yet to meet you.” I’ll drink to that!!

Most memorable toast would be at my younger sisters wedding. My other sister wrote a poem about how our younger sister met her husband. It was perfect combination of humor and sentiment!

My father-in-law gave a great toast at our wedding. He told the story of how he and my mother-in-law met when they were just 10 years old and he knew then that he was going to marry her. And he did – a decade later :)

The most memorable toast for me was the one my Maid of Honor gave at my wedding. She talked about old funny memories and then told me some things that I never knew, like she looked up to me and that I was like her big sister. I didn’t cry during the wedding, but all the tears came flowing when she started up!

Not memorable hah but funny… Our toasts ran LONG at our wedding (My dad and the bet man and maid of honor were followed by husband’s dad, two uncles AND his brother). I had to pee after 3 glasses of champagne and missed my brother in law crying over how much he loved my husband and I and how I helped him deal with his grandpa’s death… I felt so bad!

My sister had everyone in tatters with a closing comment to “Lay off the smooching; you do it a little too much” at my wedding a couple years ago. She was nine, and very articulate for her age. Many thanks to my bridesmaids who kidnapped her to work on her toast.

I also enjoyed an anecdote about the brothers of the bride crying under the family piano when they found out that they had a sister (instead of a baby brother) 20some years ago.

In my toast to my best friend at her wedding last fall, I referenced how she had had a few relationships before she met her husband but that I had once given her some advice after one of those break-ups. “Don’t settle for the one you can live with…wait to find the one that you can’t live without”. And of course her husband was the one she couldn’t live without!!

At our wedding just a few months ago my father gave the most heartfelt toast. He recited the Navajo beauty way: May you walk in beauty, beauty above you, beauty below you, beauty behind you, beauty beside you and beauty before you. He related each phrase to the wonderful people in our life, God, eachother and our future. His monogrammed “crying towel” that a dear friend gave him came in very handy that evening!!!

We’re a family of criers, so instead of toasts full of funny at our wedding, we ended up with piles of tear-stained tissues everywhere. Oh well…

I toasted my sister at her re-affirmation of vows by again stating that “regardless of what you may have heard I didn’t have anything to do with “the shelf” when Veronica was younger. I wish you both the continued happiness.”

    Don’t ask….

This summer I gave a toast at my best friends wedding. We are 23 and have been friends for 18 years. Needless to say when you have been friends for literally your entire life there is alot to talk about and emotions run high. It turned out great and I know she loved it which is the most important!

I’ll drink to that!! I also like the humorous toasts. At a recent wedding the single brother of the groom gave a toast, which included a power point presentation about the newlyweds. A couple of times there would suddenly be a simple text screen with just the brother’s name and phone #. He would feign to be all flustered as if he didn’t know how that got in there. Very funny. I think he probably did get a few dates out of that one.

    “I’ll drink to that!”

The first day I met my sister’s husband, I accidently blurted out “I thought you were smart!” when he wasn’t catching onto a game we were playing. I knew then that I would use the line in their wedding toast someday. A few years later I was able to tell that story, and how he had since proved how smart he is by marrying such an amazing woman. You know it’s a good toast when people both laugh and cry. :)

The best toast I ever heard was my dad’s speach at our wedding. He told everyone there that once he met my husband, he started a savings account for my wedding, because he knew he was the one, and that it wouldn’t be long :)

    Cheers!
