Fab Freebie: Ideas For Ikea

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org has selected the two random folks who are about to get $100 to IKEA. And they are… Jennifer (who improves lives by teaching and will also be adopting a child from Ethiopia) and Ashley (who says needs some improvement for herself). Congrats!

If you take one thing away from this post, it should be this: two people are winning $100 gift cards to IKEA this week. Woot! But if you have room for a second thing, know that it’s because Ikea is hosting their second annual Life Improvement Project that, among other things (like hilariously helpful “instructions” for living a better life) includes another $100,000 Life Improvement Sabbatical Contest. So if you’ve got a great idea about how to help others, IKEA will give you one year and one hundred grand to make it happen. Last year’s winner (whose video can be seen here) was actually from right here in Virginia. Double woot!

Ikea Improvement Quiz

  • PRIZE: An $100 gift card to IKEA, courtesy of the IKEA Life Improvement Project
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IMPROVE ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …how you’d like to improve the lives of others. Do you have a special skill or talent that you could leverage? Or is there a specific cause or area of need that you’d like to dedicate yourself too?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 12 at 8pm EST (or at 10,000 entries)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The continental 48 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of IKEA Life Improvement Project

IMPROVE ME! I would love to have the time to serve military moms. I have two ladies in my Bible Study who have husbands deployed, and they have children. I know that it would be nice to give them a day off every once in awhile.

(Side note: this would be awesome if I won since I’m headed to IKEA next week to get supplies to hang pictures at my husband’s office and make it a place not so miserable) :-)

    IMPROVE ME!

I’m good at free babysitting (I’m a mom myself) and it vastly improves the mental health of the parents. I guess with the year off, I think I would try respite care for overwrought parents esp in that first 12 weeks where no daycares can take them.

IMPROVE ME! I’d love to work with our wounded military men and women, and their families, once they come back from war with injuries. They have sacrificed so much for us, it’s the least we could do to help them heal and transition back into civilian life.

I’m not sure exactly how it would work (thats why I’m just trying for the $100 instead of the $100,000) but I would like to incorporate music or animals into peoples lives more. Anytime I am unhappy I listen to music and relax with my dog and always feel better afterward.

    Improve Me!

Last year I took the leap and quit my full time “secure” job to launch my own business. Very simply, I help online entrepreneurs create systems and structures to run their business more successfully allowing the owners to hire help, get more clients and grow without burnout.

I love the work I do and can see the ripple effect of helping amazing people do their work better.

The entrepreneurs I help are changing the world: bringing clean water to Africa, helping military spouses become entrepreneurs, leading others to health, coaching and nurturing children, teaching that everyone has a voice and story.

I am constantly inspired by my clients and want to pour even more of myself into their projects.

Also, at least half of my furniture is from Ikea so anything I buy will feel right at home here ;)

IMPROVE ME! If I could improve the lives of others it would involve using horses to teach adolescent girls leadership and responsibility. I feel like horses teach us so much about life. I’ve been around them since I was 5 and having them has definitely kept me out of trouble and on a straight path in life not to mention an enormous amount of responsibility.
