Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    HOMES ME!

I would definitely love a larger yard for my dog and a total must would be either a large patio or deck to go with it.

If we could redo our attic into a loft space above our bedroom and add a bathroom it would create an amazing master suite.

I’ve daydreamed about this many times! Give me one more bedroom & a neighborhood where the houses are spread farther apart. I don’t like the neighbors being all up in our bizness! ;)

I would love to redo our master bath. The shower leaks to the bathroom below it & so we can’t use it until we figure out just how to fix it.

We just bought a house 4 months ago, but if I had to buy again today, I’d again make sure we were in a great neighborhood. You can change a lot about a house, but its location, not so much!

HOMES ME! My must-have for our next house would be a 2nd bathroom (yup we live in an old 1920 home with just 1 bathroom!) and I can assure you we will feel like royalty the day we live in a home with more than 1 bathroom :) It’s the only thing that we couldn’t DIY as our home’s footprint has no place for one :(

    Homes Me!

I would need a big, beautiful, modern kitchen with appliances that work and lots and lots of windows. I live in an apartment in the Fan right now, and the kitchen is so tiny that the fridge is in the dining room, our only counter space houses a dishdrainer, and the oven door can’t open all the way because it runs into the sink! I’m dreeeeaaaaming of the day when I can have space to make bazillions of holiday cookies to share!!!!!! And a dishwasher would be so great to clean up after all that cookie awesomeness :)

I would look for a house that is set back from the neighbors. My current living room is right next to my neighbors driveway so I’m constantly hearing car doors slamming shut and basketballs bouncing (plus it sets my dog off barking to boot!)

Homes me! I would buy a house with a new roof and boiler. We bought our house 2 1/2 years ago and while we’ve checked new windows and doors off the list, I wish we’d been able to afford something that didn’t have quite so many “big” projects necessary!

I’m renting now, so nearly any home would be an improvement. I guess the best thing about a home would be NO MORTGAGE, amiright? And a big bathtub wouldn’t be bad either. But when we do buy, it will definitely be closer to work.
