Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

Well, we just RENTED a new apartment, and space is a huge factor! But if we moved… I’d say parking space and a backyard. (We live in NYC where both are rare to come by!)

HOMES ME! A must have would be a home in our same neighborhood. We live in a great area with mature trees, walking distance to downtown and the university. The trade-off is a home that is politely described as cozy – so more square footage would be nice.

An attached garage (or at least a driveway that is not located at the very back of our backyard so that you are required to lug all groceries, baby car seats, bags and babies through the entire backyard to reach the door!

Homes me! I didn’t shy away from a 1950s house that needed some TLC. But I’ve collected so many tools and gadgets over the years, I have no where to store them. Seriously, my drill is hidden in a decorative storage basket near an outlet in my living room where it can charge. So, my next house definitely has to have a garage or a basement.

    “HOMES ME!”

If I were to buy/build a house today I’d make darn sure the kitchen/eating area had a solid floor with no grout or seams. Our current kitchen tile floors take up about 2-3 hours of my time EACH WEEK. I HATE tile floors. I’d even give up square footage from what we have now as long as the cleaning was easier.

After much thought, I’ve decided to go with perfect location close to a good school, market, and a fabulous park or natural area! Of course, if it had an open floor plan, lots of kitchen counter space, hardwood floors, and a claw foot tub, that would be great too.~)

We are currently house hunting for our FIRST home. We had our first baby daughter in May and as she gets heavier it’s very tiring to carry her up and down stairs in our rental home. We will love to find a spacious ranch style house in the near future.
