Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! I would definitely look for an extra bedroom, a sunroom (or, to feel fancy, a solarium), and interesting architecture. Large windows, open kitchen, and a two car garage!

I just bought my house so I don’t have many things I’d do differently, maybe with the layout, I’d like a walk out to the back patio.

HOMES ME! I’m dying for a real, honest-to-goodness dining room. We’ve been renting a super cute duplex for a few years now, but of course “cute” means no dining room and a huge dining table awkwardly stuck in our living room.

The next home we buy MUST have a big back yard. I spent most of my childhood in the yard either camping at night under the stars or enjoying our annual Memorial day picnic. I want the same outdoor memories for my daughter in our next home.

This is perfect timing as my boyfriend and I just dived into house hunting! Or major must have is acres upon acres (at least 6!). We want enough property to start a small christmas tree farm and to have our future children enough space to grow and play. We are not worried about the size of the house because we can always add on and renovate, but you could never add more land!!!!

I’d love a little more square footage, but mostly I’d love a house with a layout that’s smart, that really works and has plenty of storage and usable space. And, since it’s my wish list… an updated kitchen, a sunroom, a big deck, and a flat backyard for my boys to play in!

HOMES ME! If I was buying a new home right now it would HAVE to have a guest bedroom. All of our family lives out of the area and right now they have to stay on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the playroom when they come to visit.
