An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

I adore our house, but I wish it had a screened porch. Florida mosquitos are vicious!

Top must-have is a big kitchen- or the room to create one.
Kellie Rohrer says

Must have would be a super nice and very large kitchen!
Cheryl says
HOMES ME! I’d like a home in the country – with a big yard!!
Melissa says
HOMES ME!
A laundry room. I live in an apartment now and have to lug my laundry up and down 3 flights of stairs and can only do laundry certain hours of the day. And one neighbor has tried to discuss buying my pants from me…so I have to guard my laundry too. Ha!

HOME ME!
We just moved into our new house this past summer and while we wanted to ‘stay small’…well, now I wonder if small was too small…so I would want more square footage. :( It makes me sad because this is our forever home, it is just going to be our cramped forever home if/when we have kids!!
Vicky says
HOMES ME! I’d look for a house that has a master with an ensuite. It’d be nice to have that extra bathroom just for ourselves.
Heather says
HOMES ME!
If we were to buy right now it would have to have more than 2 bedrooms and at least 2 bathrooms.
Ashley Pecot says
HOMES ME!
My must have would be a HUGE kitchen with a HUGE dining room! I want to be able to have wonderful dinner parties!
Erin D says
HOMES ME! A fourth bedroom would be at the top of my list.
Natasha says
HOMES ME! Our absolute must is a walkable location; our current place is just big enough for us and has a great yard, but despite being smack dab in the middle of this city we can’t walk anywhere! We need a place with sidewalks that actually connect to other sidewalks, and bike lanes that are actually the width of a bike. Dreaming big!
Rachel says
Homes me, please!
If I were to buy a home right now, I would probably move my parents into it. They’re 60 and have spent their lives giving and doing for everyone around them (and still do!) and live in a small rental, so they have no place to call their own. Yet. :)
Jen w says
Home me! I need a basement!
Rachael says
Homes me!! I would have first floor
Laundry and extra storage!!
Jennifer Lentz says
Homes Me!

As a mother of a very adventurous little lady, I have a “must-have” for her… a secret closet!!! What little girl (or boy!) wouldn’t love a secret hideaway behind the bookcase in their room? ! :-)
Jessica says
HOMES ME! A must have would definitely be a second bathroom!!
Kaitlin K. says
HOMES ME!!! I would love an updated kitchen looking out to our large grassy backyard!
Kate says
Homes me!
I would love more bedrooms, baths, acreage etc. But honestly the one thing that would make me exceedingly ridiculously happy is a mudroom. With built in dog crates and shower for muddy paws, dusty children or gardening gear. Obscene amounts of storage. A door to hide it all. I know it sounds like a bit much but really it’s not, I promise :)
Claire Parker says
HOMES ME!
I want a finished master suite!
Leah Y says
Homes me!!
Our third bedroom is super small- so our next house will have 3-4 bedrooms and also an area we can use to home school. :)
Jeffrey says
HOMES ME! Last time I bought a house, all the toilets leaked and needed replacing. It would be really nice to buy a house that had updated bathrooms!
Marla says
HOMES ME! I’d need to have a beautiful updated kitchen!
Cara says
HOMES ME!
We love our house – but now that we have kids, I wish we were in a neighborhood with sidewalks and that we also that our main living area opened to the backyard (our deck is a story off the ground) and that it was fenced in.
Cate says
HOMES ME!!
And I want lots of closets and storage space. I’m a nerd.
Jennifer says
HOMES ME!
I would definitly want more bedrooms so the girls didn’t all have to share.
Kimberly says
Homes me! Hm, probably a small yard.
Julie S says
HOMES ME!
If I were to buy a new house today I would want an older home in a neighbourhood within walking distance to a downtown area with nice little shops and restaurants!
christie dehoff says
HOMES ME!! i’d like a ranch that could be opened into a big modern space! and lots of outdoor living!
Whitney Banker says
HOMES ME!
My husband and I agree that if we were to buy a new house today, high/vaulted ceilings would be a MUST must must. We love our house (which we just bought 1 month ago!) but high ceilings are on our dream home wish list *swoon*
Kate says
HOMES ME!!
I love our new-to-house, but my own request is a kitchen island and bigger bathrooms/laundry. Although, we are looking are hoping to DIY a solution for the kitchen island.
Miki says
HOMES ME! I already have my dream home, but I’d love to add a new sunroom.
Christina Miller says
HOMES ME, please!
My next house would have more square footage, a bigger kitchen, entryway, formal dining room, office, eat-in kitchen.
(Can you tell I’m excited to buy my first house next year!?)
Kat says
Homes me! We would like a home closer to my husband’s office. He commutes two hours a day! I’d also really like a yard for our kiddos
Lauren K. says
HOMES ME!
I’m not buying a house until I find one that allows me to have my perfect kitchen, whether that means cheap enough for me to design and build it or already pre-installed. Need subway tile, stainless steel, double wall ovens… yeah, I’m needy, but this WILL happen.
Jess says
HOMES ME!
I would love an actual bedroom–ie, a one bedroom instead of a studio–and a separate eat-in kitchen.
mrs.iHB @ iheartbudgets.net says
Homes Me!!! gee thanks :) If we bought a new home today the biggest priority would be more square footage!! This means bigger kitchen, more rooms and more room to host more people!! :D

Michelle says
HOMES ME!
Lots of natural light.
Kim says
HOMES ME! I would just like a more fluid open layout and room out back for a vegetable/herb garden. Hard to find in the middle of Los Angeles though. :(
Jeni says
HOMES ME!
… and I would want an older home with more character!
Kristina says
HOMES ME!
We’ve been in our home for a year now and the “to do” list is never ending! Insulation, drywall, new flooring.
If we were to buy another home it would be with acreage — sheep, chickens, bees, and forest space (maybe a little creek too!)
