Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Now that our kiddos are getting a little older, I would love to have an inground pool. Purposely didn’t look at houses with one when we moved last, but now considering installing one. What a difference a few years makes!

    Homes me! please!

An amazing basement/family room is the top of my must have list. Complete with a bar, big screen tv, and one of those couches that just suck you in with its comfort. I love hosting get-togethers and need a spacious and fun place to hold them.

I love our current home, however, it’s just too small. So if I had a ‘must have list’ more space and a bigger kitchen would definitely be on it!

HOMES ME !!!!!!!!!! If I were to buy a house today the requirements would be… Rural at least 2.5 acres, it would have to have a detached garage/workshop for my man (he needs a man cave), and a workable good size kitchen that would be open to the Living room (when you have friends over it’s important to be able to see what going on and converse while making all the yummies).

If I were buying a house today, I’d be looking for very old styles, like ornate ceilings, window boarders, paneling, and fireplaces to name a few, and of course very tall ceilings and wood floors! Only thing is the layout has to work, and can’t be too small….and I would later fill it with my artwork :)

HOMES ME!!!! My husband and I have DIY’d 90% of our house and have one room left on the major overhaul. If I were looking now, I’d be looking for more existing square footage that we could renovate, rather than having to start from scratch.

I would say that a nice neighborhood would be priority number one for our first house. We have an almost-4-month-old, and it’d be great to be in a better community with more moms and children around. Although, having a REAL kitchen comes in pretty close second, haha!
