An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Me! I’m ready to downsize and go back to my 1950’s ranch in Stratford Hills –except without all the trees!
Heather Morris says
HOMES ME! It is a tie between a garage and a bathroom on the second floor. I am so tired of stumbling down the stairs in the middle of the night!
Christina says
Homes me!
I would look for more land and less house… we have 3000 sq. ft. now and that is way more than we need. Our chickens need the space more than we do. Also… any new house we considered would have to be green built!
Taryn says
Homes me PLEASE! I would need a 2nd bathroom and a needs-less-work-done kitchen for sure!
Abigail says
HOMES ME!
I go on homes.com all the time-just to look! Walkability, historic characteristics, and, living where it snows a lot and gets pretty cold, I must have a functional wood-burning fireplace.
Maranda Huntsman says

Location, location, location! Now I really understand this saying so our next house must be in a better neighborhood in a really good school district. Live and learn…
Rachel says
HOMES ME!
After buying a house that’s a bit of a fix-er-upper, I’d be happy to buy a house that wasn’t.
Gaidig says
HOMES ME!
I would love to sell this house and buy an beautiful older one in a super fun neighborhood. They’re available near here, but we can probably only sell at a big loss.

were i in the market for a new home, i would be looking for a cute yard and/or some kind of work shed/basement/garage space where i can do larger diy projects. a balcony just doesn’t cut it.
Candice says
homes me!
I’d look for a big, beautiful porch that would be able to rock some kind of super comfy couch. Bliss. I’d totally use it year round.

If I were buying a home right now, my must have would be really nice outdoor space. It wouldn’t need to be huge, but at least give me some grass and a patio for a grill. As you guys know, living in an NYC apartment isn’t so conducive to having a yard.
Allison says
HOMES ME!
I would look for something larger, with lots of (large) closets and a big fenced in backyard for the pup.
Whitney says
HOMES ME! I would like double sinks and a covered garage.
Laura says
HOMES ME! I’d be looking for central air and a landscaped yard. :)
Jennifer says
Homes Me! An updated kitchen is my new must-have.

Would love to have a screened in porch at the next house!
Kelly Martin says
Homes me! I would love a second bathroom! We have one (very small) bathroom in our bungalow for 4 of us. More than one next time around!
Rebe says
HOMES ME!
My must haves always change depending on the area I’m moving to – but based on my current digs, I’d love my next place to have a dishwasher and a bathtub.
Alyson says
HOMES ME!
I need extra square footage and an extra bedroom. Also, would love to have a basement!
Beth says
HOMES ME! I’d buy a house with a smaller yard. I’m thankful for the winter lawn maintenance break but springtime will be another story.
Tia says
HOMES ME!
I love our house, but the only thing we really miss is having a big soaking tub that we can both fit in. We spent many hours watching TV shows on Hulu in the giant tub at our old house.
Catherine says
Homes me! Nothing… my house isn’t perfect, but I just love it!
Maria says
HOMES ME!
If I bought a new house right now I would want to have a more open floor plan and a finished basement.
Cassie says

Courtney says

Bethany says
HOME ME!
My must have would be a laundry room. We have an old and dingy basement where the laundry is and it’s gross and scary. I refuse to go down there alone if I am home alone. Paranoid, much?
Angel p says

We are actually relocating now and looking for a new home. Our big must is a great school. We are pretty flexible on almost everything else.
Samantha Simmons says
HOMES ME!
My husband and I are currently in the waiting proces to close on a cool loft in Chicago that is 108 years old! My only requirement was ‘charm’ and we hit it on the head with original timber ceilings, brick walls, and huge factory windows. We would love to renovate its extremely out dated kitchen though!
Nicole says
Homes me! I’d look for unique architectural details, of which my current beige condo rental has none.
TammyLee says
“HOMES ME!” I would want a single level home. It would be so much nicer for wheelchair bound family, and elderly pets. Not to mention that whatever I need is always inevitably on the other floor! lol
ellen says

garage! we love our house, even mid-basement finishing, but it sure would be nice to have a garage. we’re still a few years off from that big project though :(
Andrea says
HOMES ME!
Oh, I would love to have a large laundry/mud room. I have a very small laundry area in this house.
Vanessa and Stephen says
HOMES ME!
Our house is tiny, but that’s not the problem! We must be further away from our neighbors next time around! I don’t enjoy listening to them sneeze! And I certainly wouldn’t say no to a fireplace…
Beth says
homes me!
the top of my list would be eco-friendly features, places for gardening, etc
Theresa says
HOMES ME
A second bathroom :) even if only a half bath
Jules says
HOMES Me Please!
Hmmmm next house just needs more square footage, perhaps an extra room or 3rd car garage.
Kim says
HOMES ME!
I like everything about my current house except for the lot size. If only the lot were bigger, I could widen the driveway and add a 2-stall carport or garage myself. :)
Stephanie N says
“HOMES ME!”
The only MUST would be affordability. :)
Then, a pool would be nice!
Michellei says
HOMES ME!
I have to live in the city, the suburbs are a deal breaker.

I long for a bigger living room!!
Judy says
Homes Me . . . .my home would have to be on a lake or other large body of water.
Thanks for allowing Canadian residents to enter.
Meghan says
HOMES ME!
I would want a bigger yard. We didn’t realize how much we would “get into” gardening when we moved into our current house and 100% of the yard space is dedicated to fruits and vegetables…we wish we could have some more fruit trees and some grass and flowers. :)
Sara says
Homes me! If we were to buy a new house today the non-negotiable would be location and the size of our backyard. Right now we have a tiny lot but I grew up on 17 acres in the middle of the forest so I am feeling the need for some more space. :)
Kristen says
HOMES ME!
I would like a large wrap around porch. It would be wonderful for it to be closer to work too.
Natasha says
HOMES ME!
…more bedrooms. Definitely more bedrooms.
JP says
Homes me! I just need a nice, big porch and porch swing. :)
Heather Box says
Homes me!
My next home would have to have a big jetted bath tub to soak in!
