Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

If I were buying a house today, I’d want a fenced in back yeard with a door that leads directly to it!

Homes me! We just bought a new house this summer and the top of our list was more room. We just had our 3rd boy and were already scrunched for space with 2 boys in our first home!

I want a mudroom. It seems like such a small thing, but I’m so very very tired of an entryway full of all the shoes and boots and coats and scarves and hats and mittens, and then the muck that gets tracked everywhere because the ONLY door(!) opens right into the living space. Done with it. I want a mudroom. Is $500 enough to build a mudroom addition onto my house???

HOMES ME!! We had a big demand. Lots of land within walking distance to our downtown. We just found it though, an old historic home on 1 acre. I am still addicted to browsing the classifieds though.

In our next home we need more storage – our closets now are sooo tiny they are funny…

I dream of built in bookcases and extra large closets and only ramblers please – we love one-level living.

HOMES ME! I love my 1896 Victorian, but I would also love a new, smaller house on one level so I wouldn’t have to trudge down a total of 29 stairs from the bedroom to the basement laundry area (and 29 back up again!)

I would like a great room that is a little more great. We entertain up to 20 people often and there just isn’t enough room for everyone to sit and eat at the same time and the living area only seats 5 people. Adding a 4 seasons room wouldn’t be bad either to accommodate the extra people.

I love everything about my house except: 1) A second bathroom- it turns out those are kind of helpful! 2) No trees/landscaping. 3) I don’t own it, so I can’t change #s 1 and 2.

We just bought a home last month and besides square footage and a yard we wanted to be able to separate formal and family spaces. We love our layout and have already hosted parties where the adults hang in the formal space and the kids run rampant in the family room. It’s perfect!

We just bought a new house with more square footage. But now I’d love to have someone to constantly motivate me and to bounce ideas off of so that I’d move off center. I need my own personal cheering section to help me DIY this place into resembling my family!

My husband and I just bought our first house last week. We had a list of our “must haves” and waited for the perfect home to come. We are moving in on New Years Eve and the top things on our list were: pier & beam cottage appeal, close to the park to walk our dog, fireplace and hardwood floors. It’s perfect and we can’t wait to celebrate the new year in it!
