An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me! I want a washing machine…the apartment we’re in now doesn’t have one :(
Margaret says
HOMES ME!
This is especially relevant as we’re house hunting. Well, virtually, anyway. Great schools are a must, but beyond that, a fabulous backyard to play and grown things in.
Stephanie says
HOMES ME! I wouldn’t ask for much. A dishwasher. That would be such a timesaver….sigh…dream.
Stacy cline says
HOMES me!! A big, open kitchen!
Diane says
HOMES ME!
A master bathroom would be nice!!
Danielle says
HOMES ME!
I just bought my first house and even though I love picking up a hammer and DIYing… I wish that my kitchen was already my dream kitchen. It’s got builder cabinets in right now with oak doors, so not too shabby but it is definitely not my style. Definitely on my long list of to-dos!
Kelly says
HOMES ME!
And for our next home I am going to be insisting on a master bedroom with an ensuite and walk in closet!
LeeAnne says
HOMES ME!
A nice walkable neighborhood in the French immersion school district!
Christine says
Homes me! We are getting ready to buy a house with a garage!!! These cold Alaska winters might just get bearable.
Abigail Martin says
HOMES ME!
I love our 1927 bungalow for all its charm, but our next house will be super modern with a toilet for every bottom. Yep…one toilet is simply not enough. That’s not too much to ask right!
Melody says
HOMES ME!
A home with two bathrooms would be amazing!
Kim says
HOME ME!
We just bought our first house in June, but if I were to buy a new house, I’d want higher ceilings and an updated kitchen!
katrina says
homes me!
I love everything about my house but I would really love a hot tub!
Bethany Scoggins says
Homes me!! Need a smaller yard… Can’t rake all these leaves!!
Becca Sch. says
HOMES ME!
If I were buying a new home I would have to have a sewing room. Not this office/dining/sewing room mumbo jumbo I have going on now.
Nan says
HOMES ME, PLEASE!
I’d have to have a large kitchen/family room combo.
Maggie says
HOMES ME!
Well…after years of searching, we finally just closed on our first home last week! The boxes it checked off that were most important were location (proximity to places we love AND in the “good” school district) and lot size…everything else we can fix or change or somehow make “ours” in the years to come!
Katie says
HOMES ME!
I would really love a few acres. I want to be able to have a Sound of Music moment in my backyard.
Meagan says
HOMES ME! (please)
If I were getting a new home today it would HAVE to have a lot of natural sunlight. My current apartment doesn’t (at least in the living room) and it drives me nuts! But it’s too good otherwise to move.
Janice says
Homes me!
I’d have to get a bigger kitchen, which would include a pantry of some sort as well.
Ashley S. says
HOMES ME!
There’s so many ‘top of the list’ must haves… Our current home has all of them (cul-de-sac, backyard is against a large greenbelt/open space, great neighborhood/neighbors, decent sized lot, open floor plan) except one. The only thing I’d want different in the next house is a ranch/one story floor plan.
Nikki Miller says
Homes me! It just so happens that I am looking for a place right now and one of my must-haves is to have a commute less than 30 minutes. I don’t think I can take my 1.5+ hour (rush-hour traffic) commute much longer! Yuck!
cathy says
Homes Me!
I would look for less square footage and a walkable neighborhood.
carrie says
HOMES ME! Definitely location. We are currently on the search for a new house, and after driving a 50 minute commute for years, it’s time for something much shorter!
Sarah says
HOMES ME! I need a yard, being on the 2nd and 3rd floor in our condo isn’t cutting it!!! I want to be on the ground :)
Amanda says
homes me!!
all i want is an in-unit washer dryer!
Leslie says
“HOMES ME!”
Outdoor space, definitely!
Molly B says
“HOMES ME!” Love my current home but would like a geothermal system!
Gina says
Homes me! Bigger backyard!
Aimee M says
HOMES ME! If I were to buy a house, I’d probably try to find one in the area of town we’re renting in now, since we’re already pretty close to work – and shopping! :)
Starr @ The Kiefer Cottage says
Homes me!
I really love our house. But I could go for maid’s quarters. And a maid. I think I’ll be dreaming about that forever, though.
Kathleen says
Homes me!!! (please :-)
Kate says
Homes me!
Central heating. We have electric andit is EXPENSIVE.
Erin says
HOMES ME!
I love everything about our house, but it is in a newer suburban neighborhood. I’d love to have a house with a little more land and established trees to give it more of a secluded, woodsy feel.
Meredith says
HOMES ME!
I would definitely need a big backyard. My 2-year-old son needs wide open spaces!
Mandy S says
HOMES ME!
Definitely a bigger yard!!
Stevie Stringfield says
HOMES ME!
My father is a contractor, so growing up I always saw these beautiful houses start as drawings in his office to real-life homes. I can’t wait to someday get to build my dream home from start to finish!
aliciajuliane says
Homes Me! I would want a fenced in yard for a puppy! :-)
Christine says
Homes Me! I need a master bath. Or at least a bathroom near the master bedroom.
karen little says
Homes me! I’d love a lovely screen porch to enjoy morning brew!
Kara says
Homes me!
A big kitchen is a must have for us!
Beth says
HOMES ME!
I would want a home with no stairs. Our current home has three sets of stairs and it gets old hauling stuff up and down the stairs!
Kathy says
HOMES ME!
My house would have a big master bath with mega tub.
Aman says
Homes me!!
Bonnie says
HOMES ME! I love our house now, but with a toddler there are toys everywhere. Our next house must have a playroom.
Shelley says
“HOMES ME!”
Bigger closets and another bathroom.
Kacey says
HOMES ME!
A new house would need a bigger garage, more land and a wood fireplace.
Jana K says
HOMES ME!
My first absolute must-have in a new home would be 3 bedrooms. My husband and I both work a sort of combo deal between our offices and our home, and so a workspace is necessary – and it works out great, usually, for that to double as a guest room. And then we need a bedroom, obviously, and we hope to have kids in the near future, so we’d need a third (yikes!).
Also – I recently discovered your blog, which was great timing because my husband and I are about to start looking for our first home after being renters for 5 years of marriage. So – thanks for all your ideas and inspiration! I’m excited to get started on my own home, hopefully relatively soon. :)
Stephanie Greig says
Homes me!
I would LOVE an ensuite!
Jennifer I. says
HOMES ME!!
I really really love our house. I would just want one more shower and for it to be a little closer to work. I’d also love some more kitchen cabinets, but other than that, it’s love.
