Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes,me! Without a doubt, our next home purchase will include two bathrooms. I had no idea that our pick of character over practicality would become such an issue when we bought our little one potty-roomed house.

    HOMES ME! (Please!)

Lots of space to entertain. (Nice yard with good sized deck AND big basement to keep entertaining through the cold MN winters!)

I have to have a bathroom that my husband and I can both stand in! Right now we have a tiny bath that makes you feel cramped and crowded. The good side is, I can sit on the toilet lid to blow dry my hair at the mirror!

A backyard! It’s about the only thing that would be non-negotiable, regarless of price or location.

HOMES ME! A new home would need to be even more dog-friendly. With the many foster dogs coming in and out of our house, there are a few things I’d change up (e.g., doggy door, less scratchable flooring, better yard).

HOMES ME! If I bought a house today, it would have to have a large kitchen – it doesn’t need to be pretty (500 bucks will help me fix that!) but it needs to have good square footage. And a deep sink wouldn’t hurt either.

I’m very thankful for our cute, cozy house but we will upgrade a level or so someday so we can have closet space and a 2-car garage. Tandem parking is for the birds.

A kitchen with updated appliances and solid cabinets. I thought the freedom of having a kitchen that needed to be totally gutted and redone would be awesome. But, saving the money and beginning to consider layouts, cabinets, counter tops, flooring, hardware, appliances, et cetera is so overstimulating!

I would absolutely love to win this giveaway! I am currently renting an apartment in a large complex, and a little extra money would really help me spruce up the place and make it feel more like a home. I would love to get a new rug (I’ve had my eye on the same one that you guys got from Urban Outfitters!) and possibly some new chairs for the dining room table (Currently only have two stool that are too high for the table, but hey they work for now!)

If we were to buy a new home I would love more usable wall space, it sounds random and something you wouldn’t really think about when looking(the first time) but we have partial walls, walls w heaters or windows…… it doesn’t leave us with too many placement options!
