Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

I am actually house-shopping and one major must-have is hard to measure – it has to feel cozy! I love older homes with character and charm – they make the house a home!!!
    Thanks :)

Yard, yard, and more yard, baby!
I am having a pool someday, so the yard is very important. If the pool is already built, that’s just a bonus!

A gas fireplace with a cute mantel wouldn’t hurt either ;)

    Homes Me, yo!

My new must-have for any home is a walk-in closet. I never had one until I came to college, and now my shoe collection has expanded so much that I couldn’t do without. I could maybe use a downsizing, but I don’t like to go there in my thinking.

Homes Me!! I love our house now, but it is only big enough for 2.5 people, so next house would definitely need more square footage, more than 3 feet away from our neighbors and a yard! And a garage! :)

I want something in the same neighborhood we’re currently renting in. We’re just steps from downtown, and easy access to everything! It doesn’t hurt that we’re a couple blocks from the historic district with all the pretty mansions. Ok I changed what I want, I’ll just take a mansion :)

HOMES ME! Oh goodness the things that would be on my must have list! Two bathrooms for sure (three kids and when I’m pregnant I spend most of my time in the bathroom :P) Hardwood floors and an indoor laundry room! Mine is currently in a “shed” attached to our house, I can barely move to get the clothes from the wash to the dryer. And I’m sure on my husband’s list would be a nice big yard to garden and have bees in. One day… But at least I have a roof over my head now! :)

If I had to do it over again, I would probably pay much more attention to the property lines and
landscaping of the property. I was so thrilled to find a good house — and it was in the midst of a
3-foot snowfall — that I barely looked around the backyard. I’d prefer a property with more
level land rather than the sheer cliffs I’m dealing with now!
