Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    Homes me,…Homes!

I, right now, am in the best house in the best neighborhood with the best neighbors and wouldn’t change a thing. Ask me again in 10 years when the kids are bigger and I might have a different answer.

We would want a one-story home. We love our townhouse and plan to stay here for a while, but a single story would be nice.

Oh how I long for a sunroom similar to yours. Or simply a room with 3 walls of windows, that’d be one of my criteria.

HOMES ME! If we were to buy a new house the top of my list would be a larger garage. One to hold 3 cars and some storage for our lawnmower, bikes, etc. Hubby inherited a classic convertible (which is HUGE) and it takes up more than half our current 2 car garage.

Homes Me! I want walls. We moved from a 1900’s craftsman style house to an open floor plan. Not that I’m hiding anything, but sometimes when I go in the other room, I don’t want everyone to see me.

We just bought a new home and I love EVERYTHING about it, EXCEPT our front porch! I would love to have a wider front porch with stone pillars to compliment the front of the house. It would need to be bid enough for a few chairs and maybe a ceiling fan!

    HOMES ME!

We are house shopping now; and while I think much of the cosmetics can be altered once you’re living in a space, something we are looking for is a home with space around us. (always lived in neighborhoods where you can reach out and touch the house next door)… I like woodworking and want to run saws/drills past 7pm and not worry about the noise factor for neighbors, we’d love for our kids to have space to explore and run around yet not have to worry about cougars & bears coming into the yard too… and in Oregon, if you live in the country, those are valid concerns. ;) So, ideal: home in the country not too far from conveniences, yet not so remote you feel like you need to have a bown & arrow strapped to your back. ;)

I’d love for our next house to be within walking distance of a park and possibly backing up to a creek or something like that. Our little baby girl that’s due to arrive in March would have so much fun playing outdoors.

Hmmm… We are currently renting a home right now, saving up to buy a home. It’s a great experiment and we’re figuring out what’s really important to us. Probably the biggest thing is privacy. We’re all about interacting with the neighbors, but having a private yard or patio out back would top our list. It’s nice to have an oasis!

Closer to work, a ‘real’ second bedroom, a half bathroom for when guests visit, and(oh yes, please)a balcony. I would love that!
Right now I’m in a tiny 1 BR & den condo – but it still works for me. You make do, right? I’m happy.

We just purchased a new home…and the one thing I think should have been a non negotiable must-have would have been a bigger Master Bedroom Closet. My husband and I are both shoe-aholics, and there is definitely NOT enough room to fit them all!

So much to choose from, but most definitely it would have to be more square footage. At least one more bedroom so my girls wouldn’t have to share a room anymore. One is as messy as they come and the other loves keeping things clean and organized. They’re always arguing about their room and it drives me nuts!!
