Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 Visa gift card courtesy of Homes.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HOMES ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …if you were to buy a new house today, what “must have” would be at the top of your list? A neighborhood closer to work? More square footage? A bigger yard? Maybe something with a pool… or a helipad?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Homes Me!! We thought when we bought our house that we didn’t need a formal dining room.. Now it’s my biggest regret! An eat-in kitchen just isn’t big enough for hosting parties, game nights, crafting days and holidays!

    HOMES ME!

I would LOVE to have a REAL mud/laundry room if we had a new house. When we bought our spec home 11 years ago, we never dreamed we would still be here one huge dog and two kids later. It didn’t seem important at the time, but now it would be a dream to have a room off our garage to contain their stuff (and dirt)!

I would be happy to buy the house we are currently renting. With a large yard, 3 bedrooms, lots of renovation potential and a location near work it’s practically perfect. :)

I would look for a home with a larger, fenced in yard, with the outdoor living space already completed. We are getting ready to tackle ours now, and it’s daunting to think of accomplishing everything we want!

HOMES ME! New house desires: butler’s pantry and a smaller yard–I love the beautiful landscaping we inherited when we bought this house, but it’s so time-consuming to keep tidy.

My must have would be good soil for a kitchen garden. A feature that would make me want to move in that day would be a killer sunroom with mountings for my hammock already installed! :)

My house would be TURNKEY…complete with all of the finishes I love so I could move in and enjoy it instead of dreading one more day of painting and waiting to get my perfect kitchen until I saved enough money for the reno…I could spend time decorating instead of changing finishes.

    Homes me!

Any home I live in will require two bathrooms–showers/baths not as necessary as toilets, but two toilets is an absolute minimum. Three wouldn’t go amiss. Four may be excessive but only depending on the size of the house. Also, I think I’d require no stairs or at least barrier-free access to everything in the house. Kinda limits my housing choices, I admit. Gotta love those sprawling ranches!

But having a yard again is totally awesome. So that would also be required. No more balcony gardens for me, I want the real thing. Raised beds and compost piles FTW.

I’m a nerd. I picked out our next house several years ago. I feel hard for the floor plan: fabu kitchen with DUAL WALK IN pantries, a little library/office nook, and a wine cellar.
Only hold up to that plan is the price: $1.2M last I checked.
    Boo.

If we bought a house now I would lurve for it to have 4+ bedrooms. I am not wanting a huge house, just enough bedrooms for lots of future kiddos. I love the idea of a shared boys room and shared girls room though, so maybe 3 will suffice! :)
