Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

I need more square footage! 920 square feet is getting cramped quick and we’d like to try and have a baby soon! We’re hoping to do an addition that I want to blog about for family and friends to follow. Now just where to start…

My next house will have an extra bathroom for guests only. That way guests won’t have to use my kids’ bathroom. And a mud room would seal the deal!

HOMES ME! Although I loooove our 1920s historical home, there are some daily functional issues that have popped up since “living” in it, especially ones that we wouldn’t have otherwise learned were a problem for us unless having lived through it. Entry/exit problems (especially with two kids, one being hauled in a carseat) have been our biggest aggravation!

A new home must have would have to be no mortgage (yes, a paid for home!). I figure as military renters we have lots of time to save up. Oh, and I suppose my blackhawk pilot husband would enjoy a helipad :)

The only things I would add to our house would be a second bathroom and a fireplace – otherwise, it has just about everything that was on our “must haves” and “want” list; and we have plans to add a second bathroom and maybe get an electric or gas fireplace someday.

Although we just purchased our home last year if I were to be looking other than the basic bedroom/bath count the one thing that it MUST have, honestly, is an attached garage. Yep. With the Midwest weather it’s a must! I’m not willing to sacrifice that convenience.
