Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

Our next home has got to have a yard, even just a little one – some green space would be so nice!

    HOMES ME!

There is no way I could ever afford a house (or even an apartment) in the greater NYC area, but if I were to buy one, it would have to be in walking distance to transit and MUST have a washer/dryer!

    HOMES ME

If I were to buy a new home today it would HAVE to have a driveway! My current home has off street parking and I’m always so worried I will walk out to my car with a nice big ding in it! I would also like a house with a useable basement…my house was built in 1920 with a dirt basement that has since been paved. My 6’5 dad has to duck the entire time he’s down there! He doesn’t live there but I’m sure that other tall people will have that issue and I’m semi worried for resale! Love you guys!

If I was to buy today, it would need a tidy little yard and a library. Oh, and a place to sleep and eat, etc. I suppose.

The biggest must have is good bones so even if it’s in poor shape, I can whip it into something better. And space. Ah, space to fill!

    Thanks!

A full basement. We sacrificed a basement for a crawl space in our current home because we loved everything else about it. For our dream home, we’d love a ranch with a walk-out basement. I envision a glorious storage room with custom built shelving and labels. *sigh

My husband and I already have a “needs” list going for our home purchase. #1 on the list would be space…we need a huge yard. We are still trying to figure out where in the country (or world?) this house with a big yard will be!

Our current house is very small (about 850 square feet). The only thing I would change about it would be a slightly larger master bedroom. At 10×12, it really limits furniture placement!

HOMES ME!! Our next home will be all about location. Its so key in Northern Virginia. Good commute options, schools, and outdoor options. You never find the “perfect” house, you just need to make it your home and find a way to work with what you have.
