Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

    HOMES ME!!
We just bought our first home last year which is a fixer upper. If I was to do it again I would want an extra bathroom and a bigger kitchen. Both of which we are planning on adding to our current home in the coming years.

HOMES ME, YO! …A working fireplace is a must-have for us, but probably more important would be a workable, roomy kitchen. Gotta have a good kitchen.

If I were to buy a house today it would need to be closer to my kids school and most importantly, have a laundry room. The washer/dryer are outside in our current home and I can’t wait until we add on a laundry room.

We need a nice kitchen and a garage! My husband and I love to cook, and we need enough room that he can make all the messes he wants without making it impossible to get the darn recipe made. Plus, I hate scraping off the windows in the morning after a super cold night. :)

We are going the oppposite direction…downsizing! I’d like less property (we have 2 1/2 acres of leaves)! We have a pool now and would absolutely want one. Fenced yard for the doggies is a must. The DEALBREAKER is that it absolutely must have a big master bedroom and a master bath with a garden tub on the main level. If it’s not a first floor Master, we won’t even look at it!

The next home will be all on one level and the kitchen will have a fan that exhausts outdoors instead of filtering and recycling (which doesn’t clean the air very well).

The most important ‘dream’ thing I’d like in my perfect home? A room that could be converted to a small library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Realistically? The school district we’d live in would probably be a major deciding factor.

“HOMES ME!” If I were to buy a new house tomorrow, it must have a full sized washer and dryer. My current house has apartment sized washer and dryer set and I can’t wash my king-size bedding in it. The king-size bed is a must for my husband. We plan on upgrading down the line, but it will be a pretty significant project, so we need more time to save a few more pennies.
