Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me! We love the layout of our home, but I’d kill for a more updated kitchen! It’s easy to buy something and plan to renovate, but quite another to actually do it.

I’d have to have a mudroom. We have one now and its catchall function is the only way the rest of the house survives!

The only thing I would look for is something with a little nook for a home office. I already have a fenced yard, three car garage and a little rental unit on the top floor. I bought this place back in June, and I LOVE it! :)

It’s kind of a toss up between a bigger yard and a working fireplace (gas or wood burning). The fireplace has a slight edge because of ambiance and all the mantle seasonal decorating that could occur.

I would love a house with an open concept kitchen/dining/family room, an area we can chillax as a family and that the front entry door doesn’t open right into into. It’s minus 44 today and that front entry door cools us off right quick when the dogs need to go out.

Ha. Being a Realtor I know I would suck as a client… but I think my priority would be something built between 1920-85 with the possibly exception of finding a new construction home like these gems in my city: http://findrealaustin.com/living-green/modern-homes-agave-nine-sixt.htm/
