Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! We are currently looking for a new home for us and our almost-crawling infant son because our current DC rowhouse has a spiral staircase and is impossible to baby-proof. So, our must-have… additional square footage and safe space for a kid (or two? :-)

HOMES ME! MY new hubby and I just bought our first house in June and I can honestly say we got everything (plus some) on our “must have” list. We are very fortunate, but it also helped that we were realistic with our list and distinguished between must have, really love to have, and would be nice. :)

HOMES ME! My must haves would be additional square feet and some type of a mud room or entry way where we can actually store coats/shoes/bags as we need them or use them. We currently always enter from the garage straight into our kitchen and there is NO room for storage of any of those items.

i would do a LOT of things differently with another home search but #1 would be a 2nd bathroom. We thought having only one would be fine, but its really annoying and our family is growing so 2 would be great (even 2 1/2!) Also a fenced in yard for our dog, a newer kitchen with storage, closer to work…etc etc. I love our house but hope to get an upgrade someday!!!

We are buying a new house now!
So actually reading people’s comments above are helpful.
We want space. But we live in a city where that’s at a premium.
So aside from the 300 square foot 1958 modern beauty with wrap-around fire place, we just want to make sure there are 2 bathrooms.
