Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

I we were able to buy a new home, the one feature we would want is a big mudroom. With dogs and horses things get a bit messy :-P

    Homes me!

Well, we moved into our forever house (or, until-they-move-us-to-the-home) about 3 years ago. And it still needs a lot of work… but if we WERE looking for another home, I’d want something with a space for a mudroom. GAH! Our current config. is tough to figure out and it sort of lacks that function.

A nice backyard is at the top of my must-have list. I live in an apartment right now and I can’t wait to move out and plant a garden.

    HOMES ME!

I definitely want a distinct foyer space, and a separate dining room! Our front door opens right into our dining/living space, and we struggle to set everything apart without making the room look smaller.

    HOMES ME!!

I would swoon over a house-as-time-capsule. EX: A house built in 1912 that hadn’t been updated since 1925. We dream of restoring an old fixer-upper, so a house with all original floors, fixtures, etc., would make me die of happiness. The older the better, but I’d be pretty delighted to buy a 50’s or 60’s time capsule too. Once you crawl into the 70’s though, we’re not interested. Sorry 70’s!

If I were buying a new home today my “must have” would be that it is located in New Jersey! We relocated to Maryland about 2.5 – 3 years ago for work, and have been trying to line things up to get back home ever since.

We just bought our first home and we’re thrilled with it, but if I were to buy another, I’d want some built in speakers, so that we can play Beatles music throughout the house :)

HOMES ME! A new home would definitely have to have space for my husband’s hobbies (home-brewing beer) and his work (percussionist so lots of large instruments). Oh and a garage for our car so we can stop parking on the street.

I’m desperate to redo the room my 3.5 year old and 19 month old boy/girl twins share. It’s been so challenging combining the 3 personalities, and 2 different sexes together, this would open some avenues up!

    Homes me, homey!

We bought our place in January of this year and it’s mostly great (literally next door to a delish new bistro and a food co-op) but the one thing I wouldn’t mind adding on is a garage.

    HOMES ME!

We’ve only been in our current house for about two years, but if I were to look for a new house now, I would want a bigger master bedroom with enough room for a king bed and a little sitting/reading corner. A master bath would be great, too. Also, a bigger kitchen with enough room for a dining table.
