Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HOMES ME!” and tell us…

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

HOMES ME PLEASE! I just purchased my first home in April of this year, but if I were to do it all again, I would love a home with a laundry room so I didn’t have to go into the garage to do it.

Having an actual home we own would be nice. As would owning furniture that isn’t all IKEA. I am sick of our college-esque lifestyle (we’re almost 30). Stupid West Coast home prices…

The number one thing I would look for is probably a bigger kitchen. Our kitchen works okay but I dream of one big enough to have an island and huge pantry!

More than one bedroom and bathroom and 700 square feet would be heavenly! I would also really like a deck or patio for outdoor entertaining (not as confident in my ability to DIY it as you guys) and a lot of light!

    Must have:
    – Good school system (>6 on greatschools.org)
    – School must be within 30 minutes of work
    – >0.25 acres
    – >1000 sq ft

We found and purchased the perfect one in August. Yay!

HOMES ME! My honey and I have two kind of frivolous must haves for our future house buy, but they are requirements to us nonetheless: space for a theater room be it a basement or bonus room (my honey is a bit of a media lover), and space for a library (one appropriately sized wall is fine) including library ladder (I’m a bit of a book lover).

Homes me! I think my must have in a new house would be a finished basement or bonus room. I really want a space for my toddler’s toys and play time gear instead of tripping over balls, cars, trains, paint brushes etc all over our small apartment. Even when they’re put away, it still feels cluttered!

I would look for a flat yard with less trees (I hate our ginormous pine trees and wish I could pave our entire yard sometimes.) Also, a neighborhood closer to downtown where most of our friends live and where we spend the bulk of our non-work time.

I’d love a house with the room to make my dream walk in closet & master bathroom. After all, it is only fair to have a “girl cave” if the hubby gets his man cave in the basement.
