Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HOMES ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …if you were to buy a new house today, what “must have” would be at the top of your list? A neighborhood closer to work? More square footage? A bigger yard? Maybe something with a pool… or a helipad?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

HOMES ME! I would look for a new home with lots and lots of windows. Our current home is too dark, regardless of what I do. I need to see the sun!

I would want a bigger kitchen in better colors. (We’re renting, so I can’t paint the monotone kitchen–the cabinets are basically the same color as the walls, and the counters and floors aren’t far off.)

I would look for some place with a workshop or a garage that could be converted into a workshop. Oh, and closets, closets are important when you’re drawn to 80-100 year old homes ;)

The husband and I plan on building our home ourselves out of concrete, just the perimeter walls. We live in Oklahoma y’all, tornado alley. (He is getting his doctorate in civil engineering right now and loves concrete. Haha.) What we really want though is about 200 acres and a huge open concept living area.

I would like a smaller house believe it or not. But I would want more property and better storage spaces built into it. I would also like to have a professional organizer come and help me get rid of a lot of my stuff so I could move into my new tiny house clutter free!

We need a 2nd bathroom! With baby #2 on the way, a third bedroom would be a nice bonus too… but the bathroom is becoming a must. Pretty soon we’ll have to look into at least getting a toilet in the basement or something. Yikes!

We have been in our house for a year last month. It was a great find after looking for several months. The house is perfect for what we were looking for.
I think for our next property I will push for a double driveway. That way there is more concrete play area and we don’t have to play musical cars…

If we were lucky to buy a new house today, we would want it to be a rambler/ranch style AND be much newer or updated. We aren’t the fix-it type. More of the paint it and hope it looks better type.

In a new house I have a lot of things I would do differently. First floor laundry would be a must have or maybe a doors to the backyard that don’t involve the gaaage door. Hard to complain though. We have a beauiful house that is perfect for us!
