Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HOMES ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …if you were to buy a new house today, what “must have” would be at the top of your list? A neighborhood closer to work? More square footage? A bigger yard? Maybe something with a pool… or a helipad?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

    HOMES ME!!!

We first, owning our own home would be awesome. We’re currently renting which works great for us right now. But when buying our first house, we’d probably look for a home that was close to a good school (future babes), jobs and Target. The closest Target, TJ Maxx, Mall is an hour away. Yeahhhhh… haha

Our current home has no dining space. I don’t want a formal dining room, but a place to put a table would be nice!

HOMES ME! we’re looking for an extra room and more “flow.” Current home is all broken up into small, semi-usable living spaces; we’ve opened what we can but it’d be great to have more of it.

We bought our home 3.5 years ago and are still in love with it. If I had to add something it would be a front porch. It was the only thing on our wish list we didn’t get.

    Homes Me! Please. :)

On a practical note, I’d want to be in a good school distract so my husband and I could start a family. Of course, if everything else was ideal, I would love a window seat. I know that it’s something I could make, but I love the look of a built-in bench nestled into its own little alcove, completely surrounded by windows, preferably covered in gauzy white curtains.

If we were to buy a new house today, just doing so would change our lives. We are so tired of renting and being in a cramped drafty house. So top of our list would be a well insulated house with a large open floor plan and a big backyard.

I would love a house closer to where I work. Right now I’m driving about 45 minutes both ways- gross! But the neighborhood I work in is sketchy, so really, I should have a new job, right? I we didn’t chang ethe neighborhood we lived in, I would love to add vaulted ceilings to my living room to add some additional natural light.

If we were buying a new house, we’d look for a level lot. Our home is on a slope, which makes for a wonderful view of the mountains but a very unusable half acre of land.

Wow….what a great prize. I live in a 100 year old Craftsman house which I totally love but if I were to build from scratch, I would like to have a big roomy master ensuite bath complete with walk in closets. Closets are kinda skimpy in old houses.
