Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! We just moved into our current house two years ago and it is still a work in progress that we love, however, if we could afford to move I would love to have more square footage, especially a bigger kitchen and more living space would be nice. Also a bigger yard and a little space between our house and the neighbors.

My “must have” would be a walkable neighborhood. We can walk to some things, but I would love to have a pool, library, and other activities closer for when my daughter is older.

We are still living in a one bedroom apartment with a puppy AND a cat. Now I fully understand the saying “fighting like cats and dogs”. I would love more room to groove, grow and call my own.

If I were to buy a different house today it would have to have a bigger yard, and I mean way bigger (like 100+ acres) with a great view of course.

    HOMES ME!

Our first house (current house) is a true fixer upper. We already lived through phase one of our reno – completely gutting the main floor. We put in new floors, ceiling, kitchen, and even took down some walls. And we still need to redo the two bathrooms upstairs and put down new floors in the bedrooms. After all the work, I know that if we were looking for a new house, my husband would insist that it is not another fixer upper. He would love a turn key house. And I wouldn’t complain about that either, plus a much bigger master bathroom would be definite plus.

Homes me! Surprisingly, there is not much I’d change about our home so I’d look for all the same things! Perhaps a nicer outdoor area though – we are in a townhome, and our back “area” is fenced but definitely is NOT a yard, NOT a patio… it’s a pretty yucky mess right now.

I love our house… but if I could buy another one it would need a better insulation/heating system. With our vaulted high ceilings, it is harder to make the house warmer during winter days.

Me and my sister were just talking about this topic this past weekend. I am not moving anytime soon, but in my next forever home I “must have” two different living areas, an entrance way, backyard, laundry room. Oh, and my hubby thinks he needs a man cave of somekind.
