Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

HOMES ME!! I would feel so spoiled to have a laundry room inside the house, not off the garage like the current one in our 1970’s ranch.

    HOMES ME!

I’d love to have a functional fireplace (preferably wood-burning although I’d settle for gas) somewhere in the main living area downstairs. I just imagine it would be so cozy and warm on those dark and gloomy winter days.

I would want a larger more level backyard, and maybe an extra bathroom. I definitely miss having a bathroom separate from my husband. I love him more than anything, but boys are just dirty, at least mine is.

Homes me! If had my druthers, my ideal house would have a room of requirement (pace Harry Potter), a space that would appear whenever I needed it most. Sometimes that space would be a kitchen with all the goods; more often, though, I suspect taht that room would be a library where I could lose myself completely

I would love a main floor bathroom. We have a half bath in the basement but it rarely gets used, even by guests.

The hubs & I lived in an apartment for 3 years, and have now been in a townhome for 5 years. What do we want in our next home? PRIVACY!!!! Meaning, we want land between us & our neighbors… The rest of a house we can fix up & change to our liking, but it’s placement that you can never change. Live & learn! LOL…

HOMES ME! when we buy a house (hopefully in the not-too-distant future) our nonnegotiables are living in an area where we can run from home (close to a trail, or with extensive sidewalks) as well as an enclosed outdoor area (screened in porch, sun porch, etc) for our cats to play. :)

HOME ME!!! If I was looking for a new home, I would say it would have to have a back yard. Our current home has a nice front and side yard, but no back yard. We literally have our pathetic 10’x10′ deck and then it goes straight down a ravine.

HOMES ME! We recently bought our first house, and it is everything a first house should be, and already has a lot of features I only hoped to have in my dream-forever-house one day! But our next home MUST have a larger/swankier kitchen, or at least more to work with to make it swankier in true DIY fashion!

My next house will require a fenced yard that isn’t completely overrun with weeds. Fenced so that my boyfriend’s dog can come over, and not overrun with weeds so that I can focus more on the gardening aspect of having a yard rather than fighting the weeds in my lawn.

As real estate people say Location, Location, Location. We recently moved into a smaller house as the neighborhood was 10 times better than our old one and only 5 minutes from my wife’s job. Not to say I wouldn’t love a bigger updated bathroom, a new kitchen etc. but those are things we can work on over time.
