Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    HOMES ME!

Coming from a little city apartment, there would be so many things on my list for a new home. I guess topping the list would be a quiet, safe, and friendly neighborhood (and maybe a little yard for the pupster!).

I am looking to buy a home(my first!) so I’ve got a few musts- a garage, a room for my library, and a one story floor plan(I’ve got a rabbit who can’t do stairs and a sister in a wheelchair).

HOMES ME! We just built our house last year, but we’re already talking about the ‘must haves’ for our next house. They will be a 3 car garage, mudroom, and our master on the 2nd floor with all the other bedrooms. Didn’t quite think the whole master downstairs, nursery upstairs, before we had our baby. I guess he’ll be sleeping in our room until he’s off to college! Haha!

If I were to buy a new home, a must have for me would be plenty of cabinents in the kitchen and a pantry. Our house currently has a lack of both; however, it does make you get creative on storage and organizing! Use what you got, right? :)

HOMES ME! So, sue me. I would want a smaller yard that is already landscaped and easy to maintain. I bit off too much “grass” with this house.

And you didn’t ask, but after that, I’d like an up-to-date bathroom, higher ceilings, shorter driveway (less to plow or shovel), and howzabout a domestic? Ha! It’s fun to dream…

HOMES ME! We actually just bought a house (well, in April, but we’d been looking for about a year and a half) and top of the list included a modest sized home with lots of outdoor space and privacy. We succeeded and now own a cute little cape on 5 gorgeous acres of land.

HOMES ME! If I were buying a new place today, the only other thing I would require is a built in washer/dryer. My current place has 2 per floor and that works pretty well, but being able to throw a load in and go to work would be nice…without holding a machine hostage for someone else.

    HOMES ME!

My girlfriend and I just bought a house together (we are FINALLY going to give up the title of ‘long-distance relationship’)! We bought a three bedroom, 1 bath Cape Cod. We love it because it’s obvious artists lived there, and we are artists (she an art teacher, me a photographer), so the house has a creative vibe.

We have plans to add a half bath and do a LOT of cosmetic stuff, like painting and refinishing the original hardwoods and knocking out a wall to create an open staircase.

It’s our dream home, and a perfect place to start our life together.
