Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! My husband and I just bought our first house in July. We live in TX and a pool was a must have to survive the hot summers! So far, I think we got almost everything on our wish list. A lot of paint has helped make it home.

HOMES ME! Just went through this process (on a rental, not our own place, unfortunately) but the biggest issues were light, location, and ventilation over the kitchen stove!

We haven’t even lived in our current house a year yet, and there’s not really anything I would change about it except maybe move it a little closer to family. I love Richmond and I love my job, but our families are 4 hours north in DE and PA so I feel like we miss out on a lot of family fun activities.

HOMES ME! I’d like more closet/storage space. We only have closets in the bedrooms and that’s it. Makes it kinda hard to find places to store everything else…especially since we live in south Florida and the attic is not the best storage option.

Next house must have: a smaller, fenced in yard. We have a large, wooded lot that would be a small fortune to fence and two small dogs. Less yard work + easier potty time = happy mama.

Our next home will hopefully be our “final” home we live in long term and raise our kids in. It will definitely need to have 4 bedrooms and at least 2200 sf (and maybe a fireplace!)

If I were lucky enough to buy a new house (my first actually) the absolute MUST HAVE would be my own separate area, whether a room or a nook, for my “office”. I hate using the kitchen table or the coffee table or frequently, my bed.

I just bought my first home in April and I must say I still love her. However, if I had to buy a new place, I’d like to have a fireplace. There’s just something about a hearth that makes it more like home.

HOMES ME! We’d love a new apartment with a third bedroom, a second full bath, and ideally an open kitchen/living/dining room and an office. We’ve been outbid on two places in the past year (including my dream apartment two blocks from our current place) and saw another one we would have loved when it was already in contract. Hoping 2013 will bring more options…

Top of the list: a decent-sized kitchen. Doesn’t have to have all the bells and whistles, but counter space and storage are musts. Coming in a close second, a yard of any size.
