Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

    HOMES ME!

I’d opt for a garage. Not very exciting, but in my neck of the woods we don’t have basements, so it’s the best thing going. :)

We’d love to just move to a house in general after living in an apartment for so long. A garage of our own would be awesome! Storage + laundry + a place to park our cars instead of street parking in the city. Thanks for the chance to win!

We ARE buying a house… and a biggie for us was storage! We moved states and into an apartment, so we’ve been cramped the past 4 months. Can’t wait to have a garage/attic!

Homes Me! Our must haves are fenced in yard for our terriers, hardwood floors, minimum 1800 sq. ft., 3 beds, 2.5 baths, within 20 minutes of work.

Our current (3 year) goal is to pay off all our credit card debts (his from his small business – will be done Spring 2013) and student loans (mine from going to a private university in Boston – will be done Summer 2015), save for our first home, and relocate to Virginia. We’re thinking of relocating to the Richmond area and will be going on vacation next summer to scope out some potential neighborhoods. We’re a young couple (26 & 31) looking to start our family within the next few years. We’re looking for a neighborhood with good schools, shopping areas within 5-10 minutes drive, and a diverse and cohesive community.

Any town/neighborhood suggestions you can give us? (Sorry for the long comment!)

I would look for a larger kitchen. I love to bake and my kitchen is way too small – no counter space to roll out all those cookies!

HOMES ME! If we were to move today I think my must have would be a driveway big enough to park side-by-side. We currently have a long skinny driveway that fits three cars, but only in a single file line. Such a pain to always be blocked in/having to get up early to let someone out!

Guess what?? I’m actually BUYING a house! My first one, actually!! And holy $herdog, is it stressful! The items to top our list were plenty of room, a nice yard, and a good neighborhood. What I’d really have enjoyed was a personal assistant and finance manager to do the entire process for me, so all I had to do was sign on the line! Oh, and cheaper insurance! Cause lord knows these tornados don’t come cheap!
