Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

HOMES ME! My dream house would be a big cozy log cabin out in the woods. It would have a large fishing pond and good hunting for my hubby. A swimming pool and hot tub. A huge whirlpool tub in the master bath and a giant walk in closet. My house would also have a spacious kitchen with fancy counter tops and a walk in pantry. And we would need a finished basement for that man cave.

Homes me! We just bought our first home and there are a zillion projects. If we were to buy a new home, we’d still buy a fixer, but one with three (maybe 4?) bedrooms. We bought a 2 bedroom because we loved the location and there is room to expand, but I have the feeling this place will feel crowded in a few years :)

PS. Long time stalker, first time commenter! Love this blog!

homes me! we just bought our new house so i don’t really have any “must haves” since i already love this house. but i definitely wouldn’t object to buying a house fully furnished by a decorator!! all these furniture/rug/curtain decisions are about to do me in….and our wallet. so i know what i’d use the $500 for!

If I were to buy a new home today I would make sure all the bedrooms are on the same floor. Our three story works great right now but when the kiddos start coming it’ll be time to either move on or build a firepole to the basement.

I’d have a big kitchen with lots of sitting room around the bar. I’d also want to live either on a farm or a neighborhood with sidewalks so the boys could ride their bikes.

HOMES ME! A mortgage that I can afford. We bought right at the height of the market in 2007, and have never really been able to recover. So that $500 would buy a whole lot of gas and groceries. Not very exciting, I know, but every penny helps.

My must have in a home is four bedrooms, three baths with a yard. We don’t live near our family so four bedrooms is a must. I also want decent sized bathrooms but could care less about a formal living room or dining room.

    “Homes Me!”

We built this house 3 years ago. There are a few things that I wish we had gone ahead and upgraded. Like the flooring, & the grass. We had a friend who owned a flooring company, so we figured we would do through her later. Now she no longer owns the company and we are stuck with gross carpet. Also we went standard on the lawn, which was St Augistine in the front with irrigation & Bahaia in the back without irrigation. The upgrade was Zosia & irrigation in the front & back. Our backyard is currently a big sand box.
