Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

After living in an itty bitty house for the last half of a year, I really miss having a dining room. That will be at the top of the list when we start our home search in San Diego this Spring.

We are just beginning the search for a new house (EEEK!) and it seems like the ‘must have’ list just keeps growing…! Right at the very top? Awesome neighborhood schools. I feel like I can change almost everything else on the property, but schools are key.

Immediately followed by a second bathroom and a more spacious kitchen. If my husband were answering, he’d say that a detached garage (to convert to a woodshop) would be the bee’s knees.

Homes Me! I would love a laundry room on the same level as our bedrooms — no more hauling laundry up and down stairs. OK — thought of a few more things: a basement, a nice outdoor patio, an updated master bathroom and more storage space. I’d better stop because I think this list could get pretty long!

HOMES ME! My Husband and I want a condo in Asheville. We already live in the rural north Georgia mountains and love the “anything goes” atmosphere of Asheville. Oh, and we simply adore the food culture. We are locavores, at least try to be, and Asheville is all about local food. A condo would be perfect because we would rather spend out time in the kitchen than working in a yard.
