Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

Must have for my dream house would be a master bathroom suite! Our current master bathroom has a teeny tiny shower only that you can’t even spread your arms out and spin around in! Yes, that is a must for me!

I would without a doubt look for two levels and a space for a home office. We have been living in a 2 bedroom condo for 6+ years and have very much outgrown our space. We are currently new home shopping but with the current market selling our place to buy something else is more challenging than we’d like.

We would definitely need another bedroom. We bought the current house with the mindset that we’d upgrade to a bigger house once baby #2 was on the way and then we wound up having twins. Bam! Just like that, our house was too small, but we are making it work.

The top of my wish list for a new house? At the present moment, considering the cold snap we are going through at this moment, I would have to say under-floor heating!!

Homes Me! If I were to be looking for a new house today, I would focus most on layout! I LOVE the character you get from an older home, but the layout in ours KILLS someone like me who needs to frequently change things up to avoid getting stir crazy. EVERY wall in EVERY SINGLE room has either windows, a door, or an opening to another room. I don’t have a single wall in ANY room that is withOUT an obstacle. Because of this, all rooms pretty much have ONE functional way to arrange furniture and it can NEVER be switched up. Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

There are so many simple things I’d like in our next house- a guest shower anyone? But let’s dream big! I’d love to have a swimming pool especially if it has a cool waterfall or a graded walk-in to beat this mean Texas heat in the summer (and now- it’s like 72 out right now-sigh). Thanks for the opportunity!

I actually just bought a home and it had 99% of everything I was wanting – that 1% left would be for someone to magically come in and paint/stencil all my walls the color/pattern I want them to be :)

A garage! We’ve been apartment dwellers for 10 years & though I generally don’t mind apt. living, I COVET garages. Our guest room is our current “garage” and it houses everything from Christmas decorations, to bike accessories, to camping gear… you name it! I always am a bit embarrassed when guests visit!

I would love for it to be closer – like walking distance – to shops, restaurants, etc. Right now we’re out in the boonies and unfortunately won’t really have the luxury of choosing where we live for another 8 years until my husband retires from the military, but a girl can dream. :)
