Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I will be helping others with parties this year. Be a great guest by always brining something! A small host/hostess gift, an app or side dish, a bottle of champagne, or even a great playlist on an ipod! I think its important to contribute in some way. Be a great host/hostess by having a range of (alraedy chilled) drinks for guests…pitchers/carafes of lemon or cucumber water, and carbonated drinks in addition to the liquor/wine/beer choices.

It’s tradition for us to host thanksgiving and the rest of the holidays are divided between other family members. Since we just bought a house, we are now expected to host summer parties as well.

Love your site and love that vase! Our little fixer-upper is only 1100sqft but we love to have family and friends over the week before Christmas for homemade doughnuts and hot chocolate. It is insanely loud and messy but everyone leaves with smile on their face and a stuffed belly!

Z ME!!! I am doing a lot of hosting this holiday season. I think the key to having a great party is A LOT of preparation. Make sure that you have a plan and that it is very very detailed (even down to when you will be getting dressed for your party). Also…if you are out and about and see a deal on great wine…grab a few bottles to keep around the house, that way when you have to go to a party, you have a hostess gift on hand. I personally LOVE the Lady Bug red table wine from the Lolonis vineyard, b/c the lable is red and green making it perfect for the season, and it’s also organic!!!

We’re actually having a holiday party this weekend. One year we threw a more formal, everyone we know is invited open house with yummy appetizers and drinks + a fun casual party for just friends. We’ve since abandoned the open house, but we love the “Holiday Shindig” where we relax with chili, drinks, and cookies.

This year, I plan to be entertained at my aunt’s house. I prefer to go to other people’s houses on big holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving, but for small get togethers like a dinner party, or New Years party I like to entertain. Christmas or Thanksgiving is such a big task especially because I have such a large family.

I prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house during this stage of my life. It is much easier to pack up a few things to entertain my little ones than to pick up my entire house and make room for family to eat and hang out.

My guest tip: Take plenty to entertain your children and be aware of what they’re doing when you’re in someone else’s home. Continue to discipline them, guiding them toward proper behavior instead of letting them run amuck. It may seem like more work that way, but it’s much easier to gently correct them than to have chaos on your hands because you’re not paying them any attention!

I really love entertaining. Nothing makes a house more a home than the people in it! I’m having my book club over for our Christmas meeting, and I’m really looking forward to it! My tip for being a gracious hostess is just to keep it real! Mingle, make every person feel welcome by taking time to speak with everyone and introduce those who don’t know each other!

    Happy Holidays!

I would love to host this year’s family gathering. My husband is a fantastic cook, and we love having people over. However, my mother-in-law always hosts family gatherings.

To be a good host, it is important to have enough things for people to do–especially children. Also, it is important to know your guests’ dietary restrictions. Both my mother-in-law and brother-in-law are diabetics. So, I make sure that we always have splenda tea on hand.

This year, the entertaining was at my in-laws as usual. But the construction on our house will be finished early 2010, so I’m hoping to have the decorating complete so we can celebrate our first Thanksgiving in our new home with lots of friends and family! As a guest, I always make sure to offer to set the table, do the dishes etc. Whatever I can do to make things go smoothly!

Z me! We have the family over for Christmas morning to watch the kids open presents and eat brunch. Last year I took it up a notch by doing a hashbrown casserole, deviled eggs (instead of scrambled), sliced fruit, cresent rolls, smoked sausage, and key lime pie!

That’s the one day we entertain, we go to hubby’s side of the family every year – it varies on whose home – I said now that we have a big enough house I’d like to have it at our house one year soon! We also spend part of our Christmas time at my mom’s in Valdosta, and every other year we go to Indiana to see my family up there…

I enjoy hosting and being the guest, so either are fine with me. I think having personalized place cards and assorted drinks for all tastes (alcoholic and non) are good tips. Also doing some sleuthing beforehand on guest’s food preferences helps so you can have food that pleases different appetites.
